Fresh LY6 with Morel 5315. Tapping noise only when warm.
All,
I have a freshly rebuild LY6. About 1500 miles on it. It's got Morel 5315 lifters, BTR 660s and a Street Heat stage 2 LS3 cam. The thing is pretty quiet when it first starts up, but after warm I get a tapping noise from the drivers side. Sounds like it's only on one cylinder. Not the typical "sewing machine" noise. It's not exhaust and I didn't see anything out of the ordinary when I look under the valve cover. Oil pressure is good, I don't see much in the oil at all.
I thought a collapsed lifter noise would be present on cold start too so I'm a bit confused. I wanted to get some input before I pulled the head. Could oil viscosity cause this? It's still got Brad Penn 30W break in oil in it (yes, I've changed it 4 or 5 times).
Thoughts?

Called the builder and he suggested 10w40 for his clearances. Changed it yesterday and it quieted down a lot. Sounds like typical valvetrain sewing machine now. I guess the lifters just weren't happy with the break in oil.

Since valve lash increases as an LS engine warms up, you might have a lifter running just a bit looser than the rest, becoming evident as the engine warms. Just speculation....
