Default 4.065 + 0.20 (4.085) File Fit Rings? 1.5, 1.5, 2.5

Hey All,

I've been searching the web for a couple of days for a set of file fit rings for my pistons. They are 1.5mm top, 1.5mm 2nd and 2.5mm oil control rings. For some reason I can't find anyone that does a set of file fit rings (the drop in + 0.020 rings from Hastings had ring gaps > 0.023 which is too much for the intended street use). The motor is an LS3 and I have +0.020 pistons to match the bore.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

My searching doesn’t show anything either. What piston are you running?

Thank you, I can’t remember the piston brand.

I checked out the Mahle rings but according to Summit’s site they aren’t file fit. Sometimes that means they are pre-gapped and that’s where I’ve run into issues with the Hastings rings. The “pre-gapped” gap meant the gaps were too big for my application.

Do you know if this is the case with that Mahle part?

Check Total Seal, I'm sure they have it. FYI, .023 is fine for street use. Yes, you can spec it tighter, but I wouldn't call it way off. There would be zero difference on a dyno.
