Stupid me wasn't thinking.

Hey guys got a quick question. I don't know what the hell I was thinking but yesterday I put my GTO I just bought last week out to my father and laws to put it away. Well I always change the oil before storage and once I get it out. As soon as I got there I bumped it up, drained it, filled the delco oil filter and then filled the engine up. I put in 6 quarts of synthetic 5w30. Well right after mean while the motor was still really warm as I changed it by the way. I started it up for about 10 to 20 seconds then blipped the throttle to about 2500 like 2 or 3 times then to like close to 5 ish. I was excited. Then I left it run to take my father in law for a little 15 minute joy ride. No weird noises or lights. Do you think I hurt anything revving it like that like an idiot. I get paranoid. Sorry for the long post.

Why would there be an issue? Also changing the oil before and after storage seems a little much unless your talking about storing for like 10 years or something.

You drove it for 15 minutes after revving it without any issue? It's fine.

Yea it drove perfectly fine. I just get overly paranoid lol. I'm stupid overthinking stuff. I'm like why did I rev it up like a idiot like that. It sounds awesome. I'm very particular with things. Lol. I'm sorry for such a dumb post I just thought I hope I didnt hurt anything premature wise acting like an idiot doing that. And yea I've been told I'm overkill with changing the oil like that, hense me being particular and how I care for my car. I figure it setting for like 5 months in the cold and moisture/ condensation.

You probably hurt the neighbors' feelers.

Chris25 Oct 22, 2018 03:03 PM

It will be fine .

Just because people are paranoid does NOT mean they are NOT out to get you . . . . LOL.
