Question on Piston rings for Ls2 stock pistons? I started to rebuild a Ls2 motor. The engine is ok but I going to use the engine for bracket racing and wanted to refresh it completely.I feel comfortable using stock OEM parts for the short block. I went ahead and bought a set of Mahle piston rings but they comes in 2 different sizes 1.5top,1.5 2nd and 3.0 oil ring that was the one that I could find and 1.2 top,1.5 2nd ,2.5 oil ring. The engine was from TBSS and because was a truck i thought that the possibility of the engine been using the first set that I mentioned was higher and ordered those. Them when I was about to start the measuring process i discovered they are the incorrect set. Now I tried to find the correct ones but Mahle discontinued them, the only brands who make them are Sealed Power and Hasting . The engine going to be build for like 460-490 rwhp NA expect to spin max 7k RPMs with all the supporting mods with intention of running the full bracket season. The question that I have is, wish of the 2 brands of piston rings you thrust for this application? |
