Hello guys,

What do you think of this cam for 416 stroker with gmpp cnc LS3 heads, 11:1 cr and stock intake and shorty headers?

I am looking +500 rwhp for street use.

Would be okay and pretty streetable.

I wish Comp would do LSL/LXL profiles for the catalog cams. They designed the LXL lobe specifically for exhaust and never use it. LSL is not the greatest exhaust lobe for noise and such but works fine.

The other option would be to use something like the BTR Stroker cam... which is slightly bigger. It's a 239 (LSL) 254 (XE lobe) and you can grab the GMPP LS3 heads from them with the BTR Springs already installed. I believe that's a 550rwhp package from them with the stock LS3 manifold.

I would prefer driveability under 3000 rpm for cruising. I have T-56 and there is two overdrives for that.

The first cam has 15 degrees overlap... it'll be pretty streetable. I don't know what you can handle or can't. But it should idle around 55-60kPa with 11.5:1 CR. I think you could tune it to be very nice driver. You may get a hiccup on decel with the a/c on under 1800 RPM. But otherwise, under load or light load, should be fine even at 1200-1500 RPM.

The BTR cam has 18.5 degrees overlap. So it's slightly bigger. It will probably drive about the same. It may idle with a little less vacuum... maybe 60-65kPa readings. And may want to chug a little more on decel or under very light load conditions. I've found you can tune a lot of it out but it'll never be absolutely perfect. I wouldn't go much bigger than the BTR cam in a driver though with a 416. The LS3 heads don't need more cam than that...

The Torquey or Stealth options would make the 500rwhp you're looking for and drive very nice.

go bigger. I have a 416 and i am selling them cam out of it 243 258 112LSA TSP Custom cam. It drove great and also has enough vacuum to run breaks. 6 speed car

Not quite suitable.
You need a larger intake lobe to get the right IVC point.
a 240/254 113LSA +3 will work better.

agreed, on a 416 you’d want to see a 50 IVC. The comp cam is 46.5, which is something more suitable for a 5.7-6.2.

If your our super concerned with drivability, the cam mentioned above, but slightly tweaked would be 238/252 114+3. Same ivc and evo points, but only 17* of overlap. (The exact cam I’m putting in my stroker)

For 402-418 CID engines the best IVC point is 50
If you have a very high compression like I do (12:8.1) you would want it a little later at 51 or 52.
Your cam will work fine but I would put that exhaust lobe to a 254 so your EVO is at 64 and your IVO and EVC point is 2 degrees bias to your exhaust stroke.
I'm going for a 242/257 .660 .650 113+3 for my 408
