Rumors, Lies, and Gossip: Morel Knockoffs
Does anyone know why hardly anyone stocks morel lifters anymore?
Here in Australia a lot of the major suppliers have stopped selling all morel lifters.
Even rebadged morels have stopped being sold too.
After speaking to two suppliers (One who stock morel branded lifters and one who stocks rebadged morels) they both seemed very irritated and almost to the point of hating on Morel while still being professional.
It is due to poor quality control and that they are made in China I am told...
Is there some widespread issue of failure going on that has not been publicly stated by Morel?

What is happening to cause these failures?
Is it manufacturing defects or installer /setup error?

I was told by two suppliers that they no longer stock them due to them breaking and also not being reliable they tell me.
One supplier sells rebadged morels and the other sells the morel branded version.
One supplier even said they are made in China now which is one of the reasons quality has gone down.
However I am not sure if there is any credibility to this statement.
I contacted a third seller and they claim they have never had issues with them.
The only known issues you can have is if you use oil that is too thick or if the wrong preload is set on the lifters.
The morels have very right clearances.
Who knows what to believe

We ran them with success for a long time. They changed the part numbers on some of the hyd lifters and that is when we started having problems. All of them where just crazy noisy to start. Then we had some that would leak down so bad when they sat that the pushrod would fall out of the rocker cup! Very few would have a catastrophic failure though. Anyhow they cost us more time and money in headaches then a sane person could handle.

I suggest asking Chris Straub aka Cstraub on LS1tech has been a key (maybe the key) Morel Distributor for many years.
Several years ago there was some minor issue or miscommunication regarding a Morel lifter that started online and Chris sorted it out before the story became drama.

The problem in your case (bortous), maybe due to the changing policy of American trade and your country's reaction to it.

Got sick of pulling heads to replace lifters and being treated like a newb by the vendor so swapped to Johnson no issues since, shocker!
