Crank by hand, sound normal?
*Edit, was just the flexplate*
Hi all, got a 6.2 L94 with 50k on it. Pulled out of a yard and am prepping it to install into my 5.3 Yukon. I tore it apart today down to the block. Spun it over by hand a few times and to me it sounds a little scratchier than I am used to. Let me know what you think. I do not plan on rebuilding the lower end. I was going to just replace the lifters put the heads on and drop the engine in....

I can’t really hear anything over the ratcheting sound. If the cylinders and lifter bores look good and there’s nothing terrible written on the cam lobes, I’d see no reason not to run it. If there was an oil filter on it, I’d cut it open to inspect. It would tell you if a bearing was unhappy.

The sounds - sounds like the pistons riding in dry cylinders to me. Put it together if the filter(cut open as mentioned) checks out o.k.
