Stuff is backorder across all industries.(no workers)
For a few weeks early this year I sat on the phone 30-40 minutes to get off hold with Summit.
they are a lot slower shipping items also.(I’m sure Summit is short staffed) I’m sure UPS doesn’t have a worker shortage problem. I’ve lucked out with Summit this year on parts only a few items went on backorder, and only 2 items had to be purchased from that 4 letter word company that rhymes with kegs. Rock auto has the instock

Okay so what your saying is that companies cannot find anyone willing to earn a paycheck because the government is throwing money around like candy. I believe there's a lot more to it than that but I won't elaborate. Wouldn't do any good anyway..

Quote: Ronald Reagan...We're one generation away from socialism.

There's probably many of us so called Americans who don't even know why in 1773 the original colonists threw the tea into the harbor.

Do you think that you really own land once you've made that final payment? No because there's property taxes you or your heirs will have to continue to pay and why is that? If you default it reverts back to the government.

There is still a shortage of raw material. At work we are still trying to get all the aluminum we need. Also skilled labor is facing the biggest worker shortage. White collar jobs and low skilled labor are positions we have less trouble filling. Also drag racing at the hobby, street car, and small tire levels are bigger than they’ve ever been with more people participating than ever. Add it all up and it’s harder to get parts while prices will continue to rise due to supply/demand and inflation.

It's sad. Since this post was started, we've had at least 50 lifter jobs come through the shop. Most are the new trucks that use AFM on all 8 cylinders.
But GM has outsourced to manufacturers that make straight junk now.
Years ago when the original Delphi lifters were used, from 87-02, they were hard to destroy. They were USA made and rarely you heard of a failure unless someone did something stupid to cause it. I know Skip White bought many of them from GM as they were "discontinuing" them and sold out quickly. This was back in 08/09. I bought 4 sets at $90/set. All are currently used in engines I have now. But wish I had bought more.

Because as a country idiots thought outsourcing our jobs to India and China was a winning economic model. We're at the point where it's biting us in the rear end.

Lots of factors. There is a shortage of blue collar workers and especially skilled blue collar workers. You know the people that actually make products? Add that with the cost of American made products. Many of us are guilty I’m sure I’ve got forged in China parts in my motor. If I were to use completely American made products my motor would have been three times as much I’m sure. At least my Procharger wasn’t made in China at least I don’t think it was lol.

Thanks for the heads up Joe!

I ended up calling ARP myself to get some more answers. When production is cut back fifty percent due to the pandemic which then limits the amount of employees you can have working the machines and combine that with a shortage of materials due to other manufactures dealing with the same then you'll have this break in the chain.
There's no guarantee that the parts backordered will even be built and shipped out this year. This COVID crap is a bunch a and it's causing some of our States to remain locked down. It's the flu for crying out loud and the fact is that people die from pneumonia every year. Well they did but now everything is linked to COVID...

Don't go get tested while running a fever with a sniffle or you'll be diagnosed as having COVID!

Try being a factory worker right now. 23 years of perfect attendance at this company and back to doing things no skilled new hires would normally start doing as well as my normal job duties. Just because we can’t get anyone hired at $24 per hour to do no skill work.

Me doing new hire things lol...

I’m not sure what business isn’t hurting currently, trying to find new hires. I own an electrical contracting business, and haven’t been able to find hourly guys since 2012. Nothing new for us here in north ga. I went on a 5800 mile road trip in June and I saw NOW HIRING or HELP WANTED signs in every city I went through in 17 states. This country isn’t working right now. Sad.

Around here they can't even get people to stock shelves or handle a register for $20 an hour and that doesn't even involve sweating.

Guess that destroys the narrative that $15 an hour minimum wage would solve problems.

I was fearing another recession after the 2021 election but my business hasn't showed any signs of slowing down. Even with the soaring lumber prices people are still building and used home sales are on the rise.

Back to topic, I just had a lifter fail on my 5.3 with 140,000 miles.

Quick Reply: Why are lifters sold out?
