Why are lifters sold out?
Building a 4th gen LS. Going back stock using a truck cam W/ beehives. I really didn’t want to spend the $ for the best lifters. Was recommended to use GM Delphi lifers. Everybody is sold out. Using the engine in a 07 Tahoe with a stock trans (for now).
What other brand lifters would suffice in this street engine?

There's a huge demand for them between consumers and especially dealerships doing warranty and customer pay work. I work at a dealer and we order around 3 (set of 8) sets of standard and even more AFM lifters every week.
But be careful where you may see LS7 lifter vs LS& "style" lifter. The word style is not a GM part. It'll be a knockoff. Not saying it wont be good...but ?!?!?!
Or spend a little more for some tie-bar lifters that eliminate the trays and no issues with oil drain back. Otherwise, a trick to help with oil drain back is to drill 3/8" holes in trays.

Thanks for the interest. What would be a good pick for lifters? Running a stock refurbished LY5 block with BTR truck cam & matching beehives. Used 799 heads freshened up with springs height- matched. I’m open to any suggestions!

BTR has the MM7717 Morel in stock too and they are less $$$ than the Genuine GM lifters.
IMHO I would not run a Tie bar lifters on the street.
#1 they cost a significant amount more. For a mild build or a DD type engine I don't see the benefit Vs. the added cost.
#2 I am not sure if any one has ever run them long enough to know if they would Last say 100K miles.

Morel 7717 selling for $209.99+tax/shipping
Hylift-Johnson Performance LS7 Lifters Bulk Selling for $199.99 shipped
Either of these lifters would live a long time in the 5.3 I’m rebuilding.
This is the first LS-based engine I’ve ever touched. My son has taken over the shop and now I just doodle around on stuff. I’m about to start drawing my government pennies and want to mess around with this Tahoe a bit.
An observation I noticed-everybody and their brother are making LS parts! Last night I couldn’t sleep and started researching lifters. I found this piece concerning the Hy-Lift Johnson lifter manufacturer. Good read and makes you wonder what happened to the manufacturing equipment.
An additional piece of my puzzle consists of rebuilding the stock rockers. Trunnion kits are like lifter selections- they are all over the place. I expect to pay around $100 for the parts. What would be a good choice for the 4th gen I’m rebuilding?

Run the Morels. Hylift-Johnson is NOT the Johnson lifters usually discussed here.

Also remember or if you don't know, The so-called LS7 lifter is just a normal GM replacement lifter. Nothing special. It earned the LS7 title because it was the part number used in the LS7 vs what GM was putting in everything else. All the part number represents is what manufacturer is supplying the part.
We have a saying in the GM world, Part number changed, someone must have dropped one on the floor.

I haven't but during my research last year I remembered a ws6store post
The hl124 is an eaton body or a hilyft body. very poor casting and very poor lifter bore fit. usually noisy also.
We buy the gm delphi lifter in bulk so they are not the triple packaged 12499225 on cost and we can save the customer quite a bit of money. Same exact lifter but bought 400 sets at a time. Ive never had an issue on install, noise, or premature wear etc vs any of the others.
They are $99 from us or $90 with complete rebuild kits for reference.

We were out for a few months, but we are now able to provide the same LS7 spec lifters as we've always offered. Its the same lifter you will find if you went to the dealership if you ordered a replacement. SUM-HT215-16 for lifters ($179 at the time of this posting) and SUM-HTLSKIT ($204.98 at the time of this posting) is the lifter tray kit that uncludes these lifters. These are not SBC lifters and have the shorter .165 in. travel plunger.

Placed an order with Summit for some ARP hardware in early July and was notified that it would ship from ARP on August 4th and last week I was notified again that it will not ship until October.. Certainly makes me wonder WTF is going on and why it's taking so long to get some chrome moly steel fasteners?

Could be, the guy that makes the ink, to print the labels on the boxes of bolts, has found out he can make $1300/ week, not pay his landlord,
and stay home.
