Help with choosing a street cam

Help with choosing a street cam
So I've been a lurker here for a long time, read a bunch of old threads which I'm thankful for. Since we're in 2021 now I figured I'd just make a thread and ask. I picked up a bone stock 50k mile SS about a week ago and am having trouble deciding what cam to go with. It's going to be a very basic bolt on Sat/Sunday driver car. Just looking for something that makes some noise and is street friendly (while making decent HP gains). I've been looking on TSP's website and it's very overwhelming to say the least since there's so many options. I won't be swapping heads ever so not sure if that matters with my decision. Looking for some general advice on what size and possibly where to buy from?
Cheers,
Cheers,

To preface I dont plan on ever doing anything with the heads, maybe an LS6 intake down the road. I am not going to boost the car ever, this is just a basic bolt on N/A street car application. I would say the max HP I am looking to be around is 380-400 at the tires, budget is whatever a cam kit and supporting parts are since that's what it costs. I've been around the car game for a long time I dont have unrealistic expectations by any means, just want a decent street cam capable of making some solid N/A horsepower while being semi tame for street driving.

If it were me, I would look for a stock 02+ ls6 cam and get new ls6 springs. It'll drive like stock and should make power close to what you are wanting without any sacrifices. Also, since your car is an 02 you already have the ls6 intake. I know you said you were never going to do anything to the heads but if you are going to change the lifters, the heads have to come off and a pair of 243/799 heads are cheap and bolt right in place. Then you would have in essence an ls6 engine (minus the lighter valves) and for sure would make the power you are after.

Here's one that would fit your needs. 25-TSP224228 TSP 224/228 .600"/.600" Camshaft (texas-speed.com). Get it on the 114lsa and manners should be good with a decent street tune. Nice choppy idle too.

I'd do like what stated earlier, find some 799 heads from a truck pull out or hit the pick a part, put new springs on em, get the sum-8715 cam, a tune and enjoy the smiles for miles.
And long tubes, and a converter, and a rear, and turbo or two, and delete the back seat, add a 10 point cage and kirkys, it always turns into more....

I never said there weren't better cams. He said he wanted to make 380-400 hp. What better way to do it than with a factory cam that even without tuning will drive like stock? If he wanted more then I definitely agree with a bigger aftermarket cam.

I have a similar setup (as of now anyway) LS1 that I swapped on stock 243 heads and an LS6 intake. I dropped this into my 84 Corvette with a crappy set of swap headers. I went with an Elgin E1839P cam. Its 220/224 duration .575/575 lift at 112 LSA. It works very well on the street and offers very good power and drivability. Just a little lope and sounds amazing.
Best part is the cam was only $250. I'm using it with a set of PAC-1218 springs.

There are plenty of newer cams that will make 380-400HP, drive exactly stock, PLUS have a bunch more low end power. The 2nd gen LS6 cam is 30-year old tech.

Hey Dave, it's a 6 speed and I dont mind some lope. I actually enjoy the sound of a huge cam just not owning one. I would like it to sound closer to stock just due to getting up at 5:30-6am most mornings I do plan on driving it to work on Fridays so dont wanna **** my neighbors off too much.
