Once I do finally decide to go solid roller, I will be doing a shaft mount rocker and Cesar says he can work on the ports a little more.

Registered for the 1/2mi event in Hondo, Tx - April 13! Lets see what happens. Any tips? Never ran at an even like this. I highly doubt I'll get any traction in 1st gear. I was planning to get going to about 15-20mph as quickly as possible, get it in 2nd and hammer down. Its a standing start event.

Yeah, I think last year (or the year before) people were spinning out at the top end due to lack of traction. Kinda sketchy.

Thats the scary part about doing high speed runs, the top end. Do not lift out of throttle fast. Lift slowly so you don’t unload the rear tires as fast…gives the chassis time to react and settle, before braking. Hopefully you’ve got a lot of room there for brake zone. Utilize all of it that you can…don’t try to get down from 190mph too fast and you’ll be fine.

Went out to the half mile event hosted by Shift Sector, yesterday. This is a standing half mile event. The day was filled with plenty of ups and downs but ended on a high note with a 1st place win in the NA class with a top speed of 178mph! Conditions weren't the greatest, with a ~20mph headwind and 2000+ DA. I had a total of 3 runs and they were all above 170mph; 172mph, 178mph, and 174mph.
The day started out rough, when 2.5hrs into the drive, I realized that I forgot the key to my car! Luckily, I had a friend that was going to the event and he was able to swing by and grab it for me. Unfortunately, this meant that I had to wait a good bit to get my first run in. I missed the cooler weather in the morning and a period where the wind wasn't as strong. I didn't get my first run in until about 12pm.
On my first run, I didn't know what to expect. The beginning of the runway it very dusty, which meant traction is pretty much non existent. So, I tried to leave moderately hard and get it into second as soon as I could. The beginning of 2nd gear hooked well until the power really started coming in. On the top end of the run, I felt the car lay over a couple FT before the flag and I tried to shift it into 5th to power through the last few feet, but it just kinda fell on its face. The car shut off while I was slowing down and would not restart. After trying to start it a few times, I noticed fuel pressure wasn't rising. The tow truck showed up and the driver noticed a fuel leak under my car. Found the fuel rail had come loose and an injector popped out and just dumped all the fuel out. Good thing I had the Holley, cause it likely saved the motor in that event. Got the injector back in and rail tightened up. Pulled all the plugs and didn't see any signs of any issues.
On the second run, fastest of the day, everything went well. I think I might have let off the gas a TAD bit too early. But maybe only a couple feet. Doubt it would have made a huge difference in trap speed. I was concentrating on the shift light and when it came on, I instinctively let off the gas.
The last run was more of a pedal fest. I accidentally didn't even get into 100% throttle for the first couple feet.
Overall, had a great time. I plan to attend more events.
Just for a comparison, the next fastest NA Z06 was running 164mph. With a previous best of 169mph.

That's great and killer MPH in the 1/2 mile for sure. I like 1/2 mile stuff... but the traction at those events is so terrible unless you are AWD it's a constant struggle on putting down power. I went 165mph with a 530rwhp LS7 at Coalinga runway with Shift Sector years ago. The runway had so many rocks I had to get the lower part of my doors repainted after the event.... luckily I had my rear wheel flares (fiberglass) clear bra'd or they would've gotten sand blasted also! Removing your mirrors is worth a couple MPH and taping up the front too!
I was on the right... my buddy was in the left lane with a turbo LS9 setup which I bought the car from him a couple years later.

87-8800rpms. I had made an adjustment to the shift light but didn't end up uploading the file to the ECU.

What gear are you thinking? I wanted to try a 30" tire. That should change the effective gearing.

Had an issue with the vacuum pump pretty much blowing a ton of oil out of the front snout. After every run, I had a 30-45min clean-up of oil mess on the passenger side of the car. The 3rd run, it threw the main serp belt, I'm assuming due to it being oil soaked. Which also took out the vacuum pump belt.
I pulled the pump off the car over the weekend to see if I could tear it down and replace what was leaking. Found out it's a sealed bearing in the front, so I put it back together as best I could, and called up GZ to have them repair it. The guy I spoke to said it was an odd failure as he hasn't seen them leak from there before. Either way, he said if they have to replace all the internals, at worst it'll be about $200. That's actually not bad!
Dropping off the hood to get wrapped in a gloss carbon fiber. That should look pretty sweet!
Changing my wheel setup to 17s all around. They will be a little heavier but there are wider tires available in the height I want to run. Looks like most people are having better luck on the bigger wheels with wider tires.
Other than that, trying to hit a Street Car Takeover event next month. Either Oklahoma or Dallas.
