575 Hp Ls7

1 Attachment(s)
Latest Car and Driver projects new possible horsepower numbers for the LS7. Engineers at GM were allowed to exploit their imagination and talents using all available resources of the Detroit powerhouse. Included is a heavily modified GTO possesing nothing other than the LS7, an engine surrounded by much speculation. Using a few bits and peices from the LS2 as well as the LS1 to finish off the base LS7, GM engineers were able to produce 575 raging ponies and 500 lbft. of tire roasting torque monsters. Watch out lil viper, there's a new heavyweight champ in the house.

thats out of the 6.4 liter.. hope GM grows some donkey balls and goes all out w/ the 7.0 liter! :D

that'll put a new viper a few bus lengths back.

actually, thats the car that hotrod mag built, and i dont think that i has much power. if i remember correctly its got like 475hp... and i highly doubt it has a ls7 block...

SmaknaSS 11-12-2004 02:31 PM

All these car manufactures are making it too easy to have high HP. I kinda like having to be that you have a little Knowlege to have high HP(More of a challange). Then again high HP is relative.

No, youre thinking of the one Imagine Motorsports built. Its a retro 70 GTO... This is the Woodwards Dream Cruise car GM built. It does in fact have the LS7 in it. I took close up pics of the casting #s on the heads while @ SEMA. Also some winks from select people confirmed the LS7 package ;)

7000 RPM?!?!

What kinda stroke/internals does that sucker have for it spin that high if that is indeed a factory motor?

LS7 = 7.0L with 500hp. Dry sump.

Fact, Jack!

Titanium Connecting rods have been mentioned as being in the C6-Z06 package so that might have been used for this project to get to the high RPM's, haven't read the article though

I'm sure the connecting rods were a pretty penny if they are titanium. If we were in Russia, getting titanium would be a lot cheaper.

Well, the LS2 has a 10.9:1 CR, and its likely that the LS7 is at least that or higher so its probably not the best candidate for forced induction...

That will be an LSTT. Actually that is currently an RPO code. As posted on one of the web sites over 2 years ago, I recall LS2 was to be a 6.4 L V8, LS7 was to be (at that time) a 6.4 L V8, LSTT was to be a 7.4 L V10 or 12 with twin turbos. Someone help me out on the 4th RPO for new engines. I recall it was LSS or some such and was an 8.1 L V12 or so. So GM Powertrain has been thinking a few years ahead.
