MotorTrend says LS7 is a 6.0L?
I just heard from a friend this morning that somewhere in the new MT, there is a small caption that describes the new Z06 engine as a 6.0L with 500 HP.
That would have to be a pretty serious cam for a stock, street car... but maybe that explains why those stats we saw say 500 HP/475 TQ... ???
I don't know... I was pretty sure it was going to be a 427 myself, especially after seeing those pictures of the CTS-V race car and talking to a Corvette brake engineer at the gas station. (I know, I know... anyone can say they're a Corvette engineer at a gas station. But he DID drive a C6, and the man knew so much about brakes, that if he wasn't a real brake engineer, then he had a truly creepy brake fetish. Also, I live in the Detroit area so it isn't that far-out of a story to believe.)

if the next ZO6 comes with a 6.0L 500HP yea that will be sick but very disappointing. because i would love to pop the hood and see LS7 and maybe under that 427ci. just even the thought that your sharing an engine to the likeness of one in the C5R blows your mind.

The new LS7 is a 6.4L variant for the LS2 6.0L.. It will make 500 hp and atleast 475 torque.
We will all see soon-Jan 17th auto show the details.. Unfortantly, you can bet it will not bw a 427 7.0L... I will it where. I would trade my 5.7 500 hp- Z06...
500hp on a c5 z06 it very do a ble, the drivability on mine is great.. I have a light cam and stage 2 heads..

It WILL be 7.0L. This debate is old and dead at this point. Its been confirmed by many reputable sources that have internal connections, have seen the media package, and/or have seen the stuff firsthand. This link should keep ye' non-believers busy:

In my opinion, the 7.0 L cast in the block is no fluke. Take a look at this SCCA spec sheet posted in another thread http://www.world-challenge.com/compe...CTS-V-REV1.pdf. Notice the bore is 105.3 mm (10.53 cm). Now a crank with a 4" stroke is 101.6 mm (10.16 cm). If you do the math, Pi times radius squared times the height of the cylinder times 8 cylinders is (3.1416 X 5.265 X 5.265) X 10.16 X 8 = 7,078 cc or just over 7.0 L. Do it in inches and you have (3.1416 X 2.075 X 2.075) X 4 X 8 = 432.8 CID.
Note too that the SCCA crank is a short stroke (easy revving) Callies crank. As I recall, Callies/Lunati/Eagle also make 4.00 stroke LS1 series LS1 cranks. There you have it, 7.0 L!
