Default how to start moding a LS2

Hi, well i just signed on to this forum i have a 2003 GTP to explain the name. I really like the GTO right now and I think it'll be even better with that LS2 and dual exhaust next year. I'm posobly thinking about getting one next fall if they have some good deals on them like they did this year.

Anyways what are some mods that should be at the top of the list on the LS2 Headers, intake.... I know a head and cam package would be great but what would you need before that.

When I got my GTP I know a couple guys with LS1 camaros and T/As right away they said get a smaller pulley for the blower.... well they might have known stuff about LS1 but not the L67s because you need other mods before runnig a smaller pulley(one of those guys brothers blew his GTP engine by going to small). thats why im asking what would be a good starting point. and what would it take to get one in the mid 11s. If i get a GTO it'll be a stick

The long tube headers for C6's are showing some very nice gains for the LS2. There really isn't much else to do with it at this point, as no programming is available for the LS2 yet. Once LS2edit is out, heads and cam packages will make very nice numbers.

A cam alone should do wonders. It is my understanding that the stock cam is the 01 Z06 one...

Since the LS2 is so very similar to the LS6, LT's will be a must as well, just like WhiteDiamond said.

Mid 11's won't be hard though, bolt-ons+Tires should get you there.

Do they make a short throw shifter for the GTO? Drag radials would deffinatly be some thing id look into early in the mod stage... im proboly going to get some when spring comes by for my GTP traction sucks with stock tire cant imagine a low 13s rwd car....

Long tubes, exuast(maybe don't know how good the stock will be), intake, and some tires to start.
A little n20 wouldn't hurt either.

Pretty much how my performance mod list will read for my 05 GTO after a few months:
LPE Intake
Kooks LT headers
Some-Name-Brand Exhaust here (if necessary)
Some Drag Radial tire here

And after awhile, i'll probably swap some CNC'd heads and a little more fun bump stick to up the joy level in my pants.

The same way you make additions to any other motor - the correct combo. This may include an intake system, exhaust system, a camshaft and a set of nicely ported heads.

The cheaper way, of course, is to just put a nice big NITROUS kit on it and go.

That'd be a neat idea if Cooters Garage had some people who could weld worth a rats azz! Where I live, you cant get very quality work (as compared to an aftermarket 100% stainless cat-back) and you wont save much money because in the end you'll end up doing it twice. And it probably wont sound as good either. Most aftermarket exhaust are also mandrel bent with properly selected tubing diameters, crossover pipes and mufflers and are assembled to install and fit as good as factory components. The local shop special generaly doesnt compare.

On that note, I doubt the 05 GTO will really need much improvement past LT's and some high flow cats.

Same as an Ls1 just different parts take care of all your bolt ons first then H/C if more power needed go turbo or SC if more power neeeded add No2. take care of the chassis and drivetrain as you add power then your done. Simple as that.

The GTO's i've seen at the track this fall have been high 13 sec Auto's @ 100-102 mph to a good driving M6 @ 13.2 @ 105 mph. With the addition of the LS2 to the GTO I see the M6's breaking into the high 12's bone stock with the auto's hitting low 13's stock.

New C6's are said to be mid 12 second cars but i've heard of people going faster than that.

ROFL 2k3GTP, nice going! Likely excuse!

The GTO with slicks should easily be mid 12's too btw.
