Exactly. You definately don't need the Ti rods. That crank would be nice to have though.

These arent going to be mass produced I would guess too. They are hand built motors.

Yeah, bare cast blocks can be massed produced pretty easily, as long as there is a market for them. Even with pressed in liners these can be quickly cleaned with the right production methods and shipped out the doors.

Time to bring this thread back to life!!! Now that they've already released the price for the new Z06 ($65,000 base), I look forward to the price for the LS7 crate motor.

If that motor is 15K or more than I doubt too many here will buy it. You can build a more powerfull 427 for less. I still want to know how much the damn heads and intake will cost. I think that could be the next hot setup if the price is comparable to what we have now.

Only in your dreams..check and see what a C5R block cost plus the rest of the motor or if you want to have Darton sleeve a LS1 or LS6 block...the LS7 crate motor will be the best bang for the buck in a all aluminum 427 cu. in. small block...plus it will have a warranty...all it will need is a good cam and a good exhaust system..you could polish the heads but that will only gaine a few HP they are CNC 12 degree angle heads that are basically the C5R racing heads...if you check and see what it will cost to buy the parts and have the machine work done to build your own you will spend more in the long run...

I wonder how people will tune it since it is not table based like LS2, LS6, LS1 engines..
It is MATH based in the ECM.. you need to be a real geek to mess with the ECM..

I think the disagreement was that someone could build an "LS7" for cheaper then GM will sell the crate motor for...............that is how it seemed to me.

And, minus the thousands of dollars an ex-sponsor stole from me, my motor cost quite a bit less than 15K.
