Yeap, fusion reactor with warp drive and plasma coils.
IMO this motor will be light years ahead of the competition.

The "latest" GM V8s are the 7.0 LS7 and the 5.3 LS4. Don't know what they will do after that. Probably would be several years before a "Gen V" would come out.

Well, considering the 350 pretty much lasted about 30+ years in various ways, shapes, and forms, I don't think the LSX motors are going anywhere for awhile.

What's the current state of the GM BB? Has that been effectively ditched, the next gen development of that that is?

I wonder if MSD will offer higher performance plasma coils.

I was already thinking of over boring the reactor for more "fusion" area, since stroking it will not be an option

Do you think we should go with neutron injection or electron stimulation??

nuclear fission has always been good for a few horses at the tires. i believe the new LR1 will have that.

on the serious side, GM's big blocks seem to be using LSX style engineering, also. when i was a mechanic for U-Haul, we got new trucks with big blocks, but they looked more like oversized LSX-based Vortec engines thean a traditional big block.

They're coming out with a 5.7L DOHC V8 called the LT5... it'll be out in time for the '90 model ZR1... lol

Seriously, have some patience... look how long the old small block was around... it was phased out (sort of) in the early '90s ('92 for the 'Vette, '93 for the F-car) to make way for the LT1 (in the performance cars, anyhow; the basic old small block carried on in the trucks with a few relatively minor changes until the '98 model year), which was really only a stopgap until the LS1 became available in '97 (for the 'Vette). The LS1 is being phased out in favor of the LS2, and the LS7 hasn't even hit the streets yet, so I don't really think that it's time for retirement yet.

IMO, GM has a lot more to work on than the motors... the motors really are world-class... now if they could just "fix" the interiors to get all the haters to shut the frigging traps, they'd be just fine.

I've always wanted an LT5..... I have an LT1 in my 95 trans am that I converted to the new style with a WS9 hood. I'm doing alot of interior and exterior mods to make her stand out... But my LT1 plateform might not be enough for me to work with... So i've considered the option of dropping an LSx into it but the work involved/ cost scares me... So I was curious to know if GM was in the next year or 2 going to be rolling out a new block if I just wanted to hold tight and get in on something that blows the LSx off the road or even wait until something better comes out that would lower the demand/cost of an LSx. If I do the swap i'm sure i'm going to go with an LS2... just makes sense if your going to have a headach with a swap you might as well do it for all the right reasons..
