Yeah, that's the one.

I got the exhaust bolted up but it is still backfiring at start up alittle. It takes a while to get on and if I leave it at like 2000 rpm for a couple of minutes, I can ease down to 1500 before it starts wanting to die.

I spoke to a friend that has autotap. He said that he will let me borrow it so I am going to grab it tonight and see if that tells me what is going on. Any ideas?

I think that I am going to start a new thread on resolving driveability and tuning in the tuning section. I will post the link.

One more thing with regards to the actual engine install. After getting it fired up, I noticed that I was leaking oil pretty badly. It is dripping from the bolt on the back drivers side of the pan (not the long skinny one) that is wedged between the oil filter and the bellhousing. I spoke to a friend that has a 402 also. He just blew a tranny and pulled his out. He noticed that his clutch was soaked in oil and a little oil was pooling in the pilot bearing. He took out the pilot bearing and discovered that his leak was coming from a plug that goes into the center of the crank behind the pilot bearing. I hope that this is not where my oil is coming from. I am going to hold off on locating the leak until after I get my tuning software and can get it idling good. Stay tuned!

I would jump on that leak asap before doing anything.

Hmmmm. I'm not worried about it right now. I don't have a lift and doing this kind of **** on your back is for the birds. Once I get the software for tuning, I am going to trailer the car to my buddies house and put it on his lift. There I can evaluate the problem and resolve it. I am not driving the car with a leak.

I am going to post my Autotap findings as soon as I get down there and scan and log. I think that I have a bad O2 but I need to scan it again as I thought that Autotap would save my results but once I brought the laptop upstairs, I couldn't get to the info and trouble codes. I am still learning about this diagnostic ****.

No but I will try today. I will post my trouble codes. I extended my O2 sensors myself and I was getting codes for those. Not sure though if the codes were from the front ones or the back ones that aren't plugged in.

Will the back ones only throw a code or will they prevent the PCM from going into closed loop and thereby add to the idling proiblems?

I notice that you said that you extended the o2 sensor wires yourself. I have heard that can cause problems. You should definetely splurge for the real deal o2 wire extensions.

Yeah, I ordered them the day before yesterday. I should have them soon. Still curious as to whether the missing rear O2 would prevent going into cloesd loop.

I suggest that you call SDPC or e-mail them and ask what you will need. The SLP package that I purchased is not the same and may require different items. If you read thru the whole post and take some notes, I cover pretty much everything step by step and includes notes as to what items were included and what items I had to come out of pocket for. Good luck. I am still waiting for tuning software from HPTuners.

I probably had less knowledge than you do right know when I started out. I did alot of research and got alot of help from the people on these boards. I also had to spend some $$$ on tools but now the tools have paid for themselves and all future do-it-yourself work is free.

I have been hanging out in the tuning section now trying to get it running nice. I have made great strides learning and understanding the HP Tuner package. When I first fired her up, I could have cried cause it ran so shitty. Know it is coming around and running alot better. I have to work out a couple of little issues and I will then post a write up on that aswell.

I did drill out the IAC. I think that it is just hard to see in the pic. I did get the idle under control (for the most part) by turning in the idle screw and doing the disconnect turn the key and reconnect in order to reset the TB % back to zero. I am having a little bit of trouble with the IAC keeping up when I first start the car. I am trying to work on the idle airflow tables to smooth this out. I may need to drill a bigger hole for the IAC though.

Well, I decided to bring this post back from the dead as I feel like now I am really finished (until I start to change stuff). I have had ALL kinds of problems.

Once I got done with this thread, I moved over to the tuning section trying to get it running right. What I didn't realize was that my cam was in wrong the whole time. I got on the dyno and was very dissappointed.

Then, once I got those issues worked out I ran into this problem.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/pcm-diagnostics-tuning/496901-code-p0601-showing-up-after-i-incorrectly-flashed-my-pcm-w-new-2bar-sd-hptuners.html

Finally, I got to this problem which I just resolved.

This is the real end of this thread. I hope you all enjoyed it. I didn't.

Do you plan on bringing it back to the dyno to get final numbers ? And if so when. Also, you have a PM.
Thanks
