Thats how the cylinders are numbered not the firing order. 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3 is the firing order. The LSx are all the same.

I thought that the LS2 and all the new 4 gen LSX engines switched back to the old school firing order. I coulda swore that I read about it in a magazine.

nope, all the same, you could take any LSx cam and put it in any other LSx engine. Just need the right components in case there is no cam reluctor on the back of the cam. Katech can set you up with the parts for the swap.
