Do L92's need to be surfaced before install? I just purchased a new set of these heads and was wondering if they would need to be decked before install? I just pulled them out of the box and they look good, but I can feel VERY slight lines where they were cut previously from factory. I want to make sure I dont have any sealing problems with them, and was wondering if maybe a re-deck could maybe come out smoother?? I want to keep the chambers as big as possible.. I have a 6.0L with a forged bottom end and a turbo on it and plan on pushing a pretty good amount of boost with these on cometic gaskets (and a coat of copper sealer). Do I need to worry about anything? |
We generally surface all the L92 heads we do. A lot of the cores we've recieved have had some sort of nick or scratch in the sealing surface, so we generally surface all of them. Checking them with a straight edge would also help determine if you need to surface them. Good luck, Richard:) |
ditto, i thought the deck on mine looked like shit too! |
With Cometics, I'd definitely surface them. Both sets of L92's on my engine were milled. |
Well I dont see any nicks or scratches.. I guess I will just check with a straight edge and go from there. Thanks! |

Does anyone have any opinion on using copper spray gasket sealer on cometics? |
