Don't forget that if you O ring the block, your heads will have to have the o ring grooves machined into them.

Personally, I think there have been more than a few guys that have successfully pushed the envelope with the LS1/LS2 motors.
I guess its all in what you are looking to get out of it. There are guys pushing 20+psi on 408's consistantly. I "Personally" doubt that 12-14 psi on the LSX (15-16 when the new heads come out) will be more unreliable than the 408's. Can/will you run into issues at high boost?? Probably.. But the blower has to be able to feed it in order to have the problem. IMHO

LSX Block
4.155 Wiseco Pistons
4.185 Lunati Crank
Lunati 6.125 billet rods
Clevite bearings
TFS 235 ccHeads
Cometic gaskets
ARP L19 studs
Kenne Bell 2.8H S/C

etc etc etc...

I guess we'll find out if it will hold up within the next 10 weeks wont we??
