Ok, so small block and nitrous base weight 2750lbs + 200lbs for 5 speed transmission -100lbs for OEM cylinder heads -50lbs for Pre 1974 body = 2800lbs. Small block = no adder for sheetmetal intake or 2 carbs like the big blocks! If you can't get that lite EFI + 75lbs to base weight 2875lbs total.

Would this be the same Nova that used to have one of the first BB 572's.
I remember tuning into Spiketv every weekend when they were ripping that thing apart and turning it into a quarter mile freak.
So how long before the motor goes into the car and will you be doing the test run's at the Memphis Drag strip?
Oh I forgot to ask...
Does this mean that you'll be getting back to the L92 in the near future?
I still believe there is a market for the AFM (DOD) performance cam's.
Both for the 243 style heads in the 5.3L line and for the L92 heads style 6.0L and 6.2L motors.

Yes it's the same car. I now own the car and will test local when I drop the engine in. We have completely re worked the car. It is 25-2 and been re wrapped in the GM Performance Parts sceme.
I hope to be testing within the next week.
My GTO, L92 and other projects are on hold until I get this car at the track. THe DOD deal and the software shows some promise. I do feel as though it's going to be a little while before the numbers can justify going to market with the cams. I want to get that L92 on the dyno and play. Oddly my L92 GMPP Crate engine isn't DOD.

Your thinking is OK but unless you have a lot of experience it's not a good idea.
Yes we had EGT's and we also (not on that pull) had Wide Bands on each Cylinder. The EGT's are a good general tool. But you can get too wrapped up in reading the numbers.
The Stuska is a water brake dyno with a strain gauge. The way that it loads an engine is different than what the engine would see going down the track. The same can be said about a chassis dyno. On a Dynojet with a 48" drum you see how fast you can spin the drum up to a certain speed.
Don West (the dyno guy) has sprayed many other engines on his dyno. I know that many shops who specialize in Nitrous will test on the dyno.
My feeling is that there would be little that would apply to my tune compared to what I will see in the car. So why bother.
I have EGT's on each cylinder as well as a wide band in the car.

Im still not seeing any reasoning that would stop me from using the engine dyno except that you are uncomfortable tuning nitrous. Its only gonna get worse in the car. EGT's are not getting caught up in the numbers if you know how to read them. You'd be awefully surprised to know what some big nitrous cars EGT's get if you dont know already. What do they read if you can share with us?
