Who's running a QTP Cover & Pump

I'm in the process of building my LSX engine and am looking for a good oil pump and a two piece timing cover. I may try several cams so I'm looking at a two piece cover. I'll need to run the LS-2 cover for my application. Anyone have any experience with QTP products or is it just a waste of money?

Thanks in advance,

D.J.

I use them on both my Ls1 and Ls2 engines. They're good for me.

i think the QT pump is actually a melling,
and if it is you don`t need they`re cover to clear it
unless you are running a dual roller timing chain.

my melling and my double roller fit under my stock cover just fine. FYI

But i know that not everyone has had the same success

Thanks for the comments guys. I'll look into which chain to run. Anyone else?

I use QTP headers and I think there great. The quality is excellent and they seem to make damn good power.

Knowing the guys from QTP personally and having seen the two piece cover many times I will attest that they make a high quality product. I don't have one myself but that is only because I do not swap cams in and out all the time, If that was my plan, I would not hesitate to get it.

We run the QTP 2 piece covers on our Z06 and our TBSS without issue - they're very, very handy for multiple cam swaps, especially on the Z06.

No first hand experience with the pump.

...Not to mention, they look good too. ;)

I have cut a dozen or so for use on various motors. Cut them in a V on front and leave the cut rough, put the two pieces together with the Permatex Ultra Grey and you are good to go. Never leaks, can't see it and the cam change is 1/2 time. We do this on Vettes where cams are much harder. Only problem is it doesn't cost anything--

Free isn't a problem to me. Thanks for the idea.

too bad no one makes one for the LS7 cover over the larger pump design, I'd spring for that in a heart beat! I guess the market is too small for a second design. I'm just agonizing over a cam choice and swapping it in the car ( f-body) doesn't sound like fun.

Doesn't look the greatest, but looks like a good setup.

Had a chance to stop by the QTP Booth at the PRI Show on Friday. Berry and the guys at QTP took the time to show me all of the products they offer and pointed out the quality work that his company turns out. I'm in for the two piece LS-2 cover and pump. If you see these parts you will have to buy them for your engine. Too bad that cover has to hide behind the water pump. It's a fine piece of work.:D Thanks guys.

QTP is good stuff for sure. I have the cut-outs & will be getting the 2 piece cover soon.

I have one we used for dyno testing. It didnt work well for getting to all the lsx bolts, but for a ls2 I think it would be just fine. Let me know if you want a good deal on a barely used one!

I run both on my LS1 GTO. 2 piece cover should be mandatory for GTOs.
