317's + ms4 = I dont know! I pick up a set of low mi 317 6.0 truck heads cheap. I was told I could mill these heads .030" and still run the ms4 cam w/o clearance issues. Is this true? If so what head gaskets should i use? I know I could fly cut but I dont really want to if it's not a must. soooo what do ya think? |
They'll probably cause piston to valve interference if you plan on using stock pistons. What engine do you have? |
definately dont try that, it wont clear at all! |
sorry... it's a 01 maro ls1 stock internals. Can those heads be used with that cam?or is it worth it? I bought them b/c they had the same porting as the 243's but just had bigger chambers. I thought they could be milled back down and would work fine. so is this not true?:bang: |
Matt doesn't know what he's talking about. It will be fine! DO IT or you're a pussy!!! |
Sell those heads to someone with forced induction. |
haha na i dont think i'm going to take a chance... I needed good reason to buy new heads anyhow. whats another 1500-2000 dollars anyway!:D |
i run the 317's milled .40 and 257/266 cam course i have -8cc pistons though |

IIRC, the MS4 on STOCK heads has .060"-.065" piston to valve clearance on the intake side. Mill them .030" and it's not going to be pretty! I'd go with a set of our stage 1 LS6 heads and have a blast with it! |
