403ci solid roller motor

okay i am changing from the 5.7 world to the 6.6 world and it feels good but am a little lost.

this more of a question for the guys who have done it.

i want to build a 13.1 to 1 compression high lift solid roller setup with afr 225cc heads. already have intake and exhaust that is more then enough for the setup. also want to do a 100 shot in first and then hit a second shot of 200 in second and so on. i will be using callie crank and rods.

what piston and rings will work?
what cam to use (not a street car)?

i like big cams! i have a trex in the 5.7 right now and love it.

1. diamond pistons w/total seal rings
2. 24X/25X .6XX/.6XX 114 range (alot of variables here)

will i second JPH for the Diamond pistons. i already have a dome shape pistons with rings and they are really exellent espacially , my engine had really a seriose knock issues , but the pistons hold up pretty well.
as for the camshaft, in my 346ci , am using 244/251 with .7 lift. so on a 6.6l engine, i rather go bigger on the duration if you have the crankshaft to back it up. 260/268 is a start for me in my opinion

well for the crank it will have the compstar crank so i feel it is good enough. what variables do you guys need. M6 with ram HD clutch. moser 9" spool with 4.10 gears with 27x10.5x16 et streets. run to 5500 rpm and side step. shift at 7200 rpm.

Anyone Else.

what intake will you be running? as you know, everything effects everything. having a cam that will peak at 7000 could be slower than a cam at 6400 due to the avg power and the intake design (ie FAST 90 vs sheet metal)

get a sheet metal and rev the f'er up

Good advice.

If your going solid, the overall design of the motor should be based under the premisis of a high reving motor. That will likely require a sheet metal intake, properly spec'ed cam etc.

intake is victor jr with sheet metal intake elbow and NW 90mm tb. looking for a beck sheet metal after the motor is built due to money.

Cam Motion 263/270. That'll get er done.

Brent@LPE 04-15-2008 09:25 PM

You need to get it on up there AT LEAST 270/280 on a solid roller this isnt no hyd. steet cam right?
We have a bad ass hand port for the Vic JR. If you want to flow it will take some more plenum volume and some exhaust work. To make it all work

I like the Diamond Piston. And if you are going to spray it, I would use Total Seal AP stainless top and a reverse torsional second Gapped a little wider than the top ring ( no matter what it says on your ring paper work)

thanks guys, i was thinking big like that, my first thought was 278/282 .712/.714 on a 111 but that is big.
