Default Check out my C5R Top End Set Up!

The heads are not completely done as you all can see. I need to port match the intake and finish installing the TNT direct port injection.

This setup will be going on top of a 454 LSX short block for now. If there is a way to get 500ci then that's what I will build instead. I have the LSX block, but I am not sure on what rotating assembly to get.

Can I use the LS7 valve train on this head? I have not seen an LS7 head in person so I don't know if I can use rocker arms or the stands?

The C5R heads use a Jesel Shaft rocker system.

Watch your stand height. The first set of stands that we used needed to be shimmed .225. We had the second set made for the additional height. The shimming was required to get the geometry correct with the .930 lift at the valve.

Thank you for heads up. I will give Jesel a call and get some on the way. The intake is setup for a 105 TB. I am still not sure on what CI I should go with? It seem I m leaning towards 454. Thanks guys for the comments.

I would assume this is going to be a race motor.

Sweet..I had the ETP C5R's but after rethinking my plans and looking at how much I was gonna spend on valvetrain and intake I downgraded.

No this is going in my Lotus Elise jk. I am not sure yet, but with this type of setup I might as well. I ordered the Jesels today and a set of Morel solid roller lifters. I hope all those parts come with KY because that hurt haha. Which valve covers do you all recommend? I know I can you use the once that are meant to be used on the C5R's but I would rather use some sheet metal once. Where can I find a set?

Well, you are kinda going about this backwards but I guess to each his own.

What are your goals out of this setup?? What is it going in??

As far as valvecovers go, I think Nasty has some custom sheetmetal ones for the c5r heads.

I had the custom shop at Moroso make mine. We started out with the C5R covers fom GM Racing but with the lift they required a 1/2" spacer.

Another option is Chris Hemmiter at Behind Bars Race Cars. He makes covers for many suppliers.

I didn't think an LSX block can get anywhere near 500ci....NO? Maybe with the tall deck LSX thats supposed to come out.

Is this going to be strictly a race car, no street driving right?

where do you work, and are they hiring

sick setup! that top-end will require big cubes to justify the $$$ spent, i wouldn't go under 440cid....454 would be great, since you can't really go any bigger with the LSX block (safely).

You aren't going to get much more than 460cid from a standard deck height LSX.

I have a 4in crank from Callies and a set of billet Oliver Rods that I was going to use in my 07 Corvette turbo build up. Maybe I can use these for now and order some custom pistons from JE. This will be a race motor. I was thinking of going with 14:5:1 after talking to Eric K. I would rather it be a NA car but since I have the Direct I might as well use it.
