We recently completed a 700rwhp C7 Stingray package for one of our clients in Ohio. It would seem the horsepower bug bit a little harder than we initially thought because just a few weeks later we were asked to head over to our friends at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet and pick up a BRAND NEW 2017 6th Gen ZL1 for the same lucky guy!!!








While 700rwhp is a lot of fun, the customer wanted more this time around. The goal was to have an ultimate street car that could be utilized around town comfortably when needed, but have the ability to make massive power/torque thru the entire rpm range.
The key components to this build were:
• Whipple 2.9L Supercharger System
• Custom Fabricated Cold Air Intake
• Nick Williams 102mm Throttle Body
• Vengeance Racing CNC Heads
• Vengeance Stage III Cam Kit Plus
• Kooks stainless Longtube Header System/x-pipe/Catback exhaust
• RPS Carbon Tripple Disc Clutch Kit
• AlkyControl Dual Nozzle Meth Kit
• Vengeance Racing Custom Auxiliary Fuel System








With our customers’ needs in mind we went with the 2.9L Whipple Blower. The Whipple blower allowed us to maintain the ZL1’s low end torque for around town driving while also allowing us to tune beyond the capabilities of the stock LT4 blower. The Whipple also offers much better cooling/inlet temperatures than the OE LT4 supercharger when being overdriven.








To help feed the 2.9L Whipple Blower we upgraded to a Nick Williams 102mm Throttle Body and Vengeance Racing Custom Cold Air Intake.

We designed this intake in house for maximum performance. It is powder coated black and features the Vengeance Racing Logo on the air box.







We also chose our Vengeance Racing Stage III Cam kit Plus, Vengeance Racing CNC heads, and Vengenace Racing Valve Covers and Coil relocation kit.


Our State III camshaft deleted DOD, but retains VVT functionality. This camshaft provides an aggressive lope at idle while maintaining very good street manners.





Our Vengeance Racing LT4 Cylinder Heads come with:
• Fully CNC’d Intake and Exhaust Runners
• BTR .660 Lift Dual Valve spring kit w/ titanium retainers
• Multi Angle Competition Valve Job
• Surfacing for desired compression
• Ferrea Exhaust Valves





Our Vengeance Racing Valve covers relocate the coil packs and provide a clean look to the engine bay. Our Vengeance Racing Valve covers are only available for in house builds!


Of course to make HP the more air you take in the more air you need to move out. We chose Kooks 2” Longtube Header system into a 3” connector pipe and Kooks cat/back exhaust system with 4” tips. This freed up much needed air on the back end and gave this ZL1 and aggressive sound.

This exhaust set up maintained comfortable characteristics and stayed true with the drivability aspects of this build.







To give our customer a more aggressive stance we installed BMR 1” Lowering springs. This makes the ZL1 look great and does not compromise the drivability.

At Vengeance Racing we developed our own Custom Auxiliary Fuel system to give us the much needed fuel to reach the desired HP numbers. This is something we offer in house for our high end LT4 builds. Once the ZL1 was complete it was time to tune.











After a full street calibration we went to the chassis dyno for WOT tuning. We ended up with some impressive numbers. The Whipple ZL1 made 797rwhp and 719rwtq on 93 on a very soft tune up, 857rwhp and 816rwtq on E85 and 909rwhp and 828rwtq on C16!!!!

This car should be an absolute blast on the street and a beast at the track!
