Default [VR] 1311rwhp E85 C7 – 416ci LT1/F1X/ProSpeed ACM – Race to 200mph!

The ½ mile racing scene has exploded in the last few years, and many of our customers are focusing their performance builds towards maximizing their combinations for this specific race. Our customer Mike Stout is no exception to this and had recently decided to take his C7 to the next level in hopes of soon achieving a 200mph run at one of these events. Mike’s 2014 Stingray started life with just a simple forged piston LT1 with a ECS Novi 1500 supercharger system making just over 700rwhp when he purchased it from a previous customer. Once Mike was able to get out in the car at the local tracks, he decided to shoot for the 4-digit power mark in his car utilizing an LME 416ci engine combination and upgrading to the Novi 2200R which was outlines on a previous thread here on the forums (Previous Build). However this power level was simply not enough and this combination was short lived with his new goal of 200mph in mind.

We knew that there were several key components we would need to complete this goal, especially with the car still ultimately being a true street driven vehicle. Mike wanted reliability first while also keeping all of his OEM amenities such as A/C, full interior, etc. For this we comprised a combination that we have used in the past to push this car well into the power level to reach his speeds while also making it as reliable and streetable as possible. The combination would be as follows:

• LME 416ci LT1 Shortblock
• Vengeance Racing CNC Ported LT1 Cylinder Heads with Hydraulic Roller Valvetrain
• Procharger F1-X Supercharger
• ECS 10-Rib Drive and Bracket System
• Vengeance Racing Custom Air-to-Water Intercooler System
• LME Billet Intake Manifold
• ARH 2” Longtube Header System w/ 3” X-Pipe and B&B Fusion Exhaust
• Nick Williams 102mm Gen V Throttle Body
• Vengeance Racing Breather/Catch Can System
• ProSpeed ACM Fuel Controller and Boost Controller
• Vengeance Racing 1,700cc Fuel Injectors
• Vengeance Racing Auxiliary Fuel System
• GM LT4 HPFP and Injectors
• Circle D 6L80E Transmission and Torque Converter
• Gforce Outlaw Axle Set
• Carlyle Racing 15” Conversion Kit
• Weld RTS S71B 15x10 Rear / 18x5 Front Wheels
• Complete ECU Calibration for Flex Fuel – OEM ECU

The first piece of the power puzzle would be the supercharger itself. Knowing the limitations of the 2200R from Paxton, we opted for a F1X Procharger head unit utilizing the customer’s existing 10-rib drive kit. To keep intake air temperatures under control especially without the use of methanol injection, we reproduced our custom air-to-water intercooler system featured on our other customer’s C7 Z06 build featured last month here. This combination has proven to be extremely efficient with making power while also giving a clean look under the hood.

For fueling we turned to an LME Billet intake manifold with secondary port injection and the all new ProSpeed ACM fuel controller with a flex fuel sensor installed. We also upgraded to the LT4 high-side pump/injectors with our external auxiliary fuel system to drive the low-side fueling. This has allowed us run both 93 Octane and E85 without Methanol and gave us the fuel supply necessary for our power demand. The key component to this fuel system would be the ProSpeed ACM which offers many awesome features for any street or track focused vehicle, including:

• Port injection control, full closed loop with optional dual channel CAN widebands, fuel pressure compensation with optional fuel pressure sensor
• Full flex fuel control, requires wiring of standard flex sensor to factory ECU and ACM
• Multiple fuel pump staging with fuel pump prime feature (useful for new Fore Innovations pump hangers which require button priming which can be forgotten resulting in HPFP damage)
• Methanol control eliminating the use of a separate controller and hobbs switch
• Nitrous control, multi stage, progressive or standard, closed loop control with optional dual channel CAN widebands and nitrous pressure sensor
• On the fly 5-map selection with optional I-Boost switch
• Boost control, standard and C02, requires optional boost solenoid(s)
• Easily navigable and straight forward software interface.

Feel free to contact us to learn more about the PROSPEED ACM!

At this time, the customer wanted to retain the GM 6L80E transmission combination with hopes of converting to a Powerglide setup once this setup goes. To beef up the 6L80 as much as possible at this high power level, we sent the transmission out to the guys at Circle D to work their magic as well as match it to a billet Circle D torque converter. We also installed a set of Gforce Outlaw axles and a Carlyle Racing 15” conversion kit with Weld Racing wheels to help get the power down while keeping the drivetrain alive. We are also installing one of the new RPM Wavetrac differentials in the coming weeks to finish off the driveline on the car for the upcoming race season!

Once the install was complete it was time to strap this monster to the dyno and see what this combination would do. On E85 and NO Methanol our customers C7 made 1311rwhp and 1001rwtq! The goal on power had been met and was also calibrated to a lower boost setting on 93 octane to give the customer a solid 800rwhp to cruise around with on the street with low boost.

The customer has since been to one event for a shakedown on the new combination making several passes on wastegate settings in the high 170mph range, however traction was extremely limited on the narrow tire on Jumbolair’s surface. We look forward to dialing in the combination further on full boost at the upcoming Dallas, TX event in April!

We have enjoyed working with our customer to build his dream C7 and know that he is on his way to setting a new C7 record. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and website for updates on this build. So just a quick update on this car after the Dallas WannaGOFast event. Mike joined us in Dallas and boy did this car show up to fight. We ended the day with a 195.3mph pass just 6 tenths off the world record. We had a great time with the car and have just started to turn it up. We look forward to continuing to push this C7 further and take that record.
