[VR] Procharged C7 Z06 makes 928rwhp on pump gas!!!

We have built some amazing Procharged C7 Corvettes over the years and our customer that recently purchased this 2016 Z06 wanted to join the club. Shortly after purchasing the car, this customer reached out to Robert here in the office to start acquiring performance parts that he would install himself to bring some more power out of the LT4 engine/supercharger in its current form. The customer ordered a set of American Racing longtube headers, Griptec 2.3” upper pulley kit, and Halltech cold air intake system that he added to the car and had tuned by a local friend of his. However that power level was quickly not enough, and the phone calls and e-mails started rolling in on the best way to push this Z06 even further.

Being familiar with higher horsepower builds from previous cars, our customer set a goal to have a build combination that was still very streetable, utilized pump gas, and make as much power as possible. For this, we came up with the following combination:

· Procharger F1A-94 Supercharger System – 3.85” Pulley

· Procharger Air to Air System

· Vengeance Racing CNC Ported LT4 Cylinder Heads

· Vengeance Racing Cam Kit Plus with Stage III LT4 Camshaft

· AlkyControl Dual Nozzle Methanol Injection System

· American Racing Headers Longtube Header system and X-Pipe

· Circle D Specialties Pro Series 258mm Torque Converter

· GForce Performance Engineering 1320 “Outlaw” Axles

· Vengeance Racing C7 Catch Can System

To start the build, our technician removed the engine from the car and it was time to install our Cam Kit Plus. Our Cam Kit plus is available on our online store for any LS/LT engine application and includes everything needed to complete the cam install on any vehicle. For this build we decided on our Stage III LT4 Camshaft. Our State III Cam is our MAX EFFORT camshaft for the LT4 engine and gives an aggressive lope at idle while maintaining excellent street drivability. This camshaft is too large to be used with an OEM torque converter so we opted for the Circle D Specialties Pro Series 258mm torque converter with a 3000 stall speed. We also installed our Vengeance Racing stage 2 CNC Ported LT4 Cylinder heads since the heads were off for the camshaft/DOD delete install anyway. Our CNC cylinder heads feature a competition valve job, aftermarket exhaust valves, and come loaded with .660” lift dual valve springs with titanium retainers. We offer these on our website as a core exchange with a refundable core charge for your OEM heads.

To get the sound that the customer was looking for we utilized his existing American Racing Headers 2” Longtube header system and X-Pipe mated to a Corsa axle-back that he had installed previously. Next we installed the AlkyControl dual nozzle methanol system to assist with both IAT cooling as well as fueling with the otherwise stock fuel system. We have utilized AlkyControl systems in quite a few of our builds and is the only system we use when it comes to Methanol Injection.

Being that this was going to be primarily utilized as a street car we decided on Procharger’s F1A-94 supercharger system with their air to air intercooler. This kit has proven time and time again to produce great power on the LT engine platform. We also chose to build and dyno the car with the air filter still in place since that’s how the car would be both raced and driven daily. We utilized the 3.85” supercharger pulley with the stock balancer which helped us to achieve just over 16psi on boost with the headers, cylinder heads, and camshaft that were in place. This combination provides the power we were looking for as well as zero belt slip with the 8-rib drive kit.

Once the install was complete it was time again to hand the car over to our tuner. After some street calibration on the engine and 8-speed transmission for drivability, we moved to the chassis dyno where the car laid down an impressive 928rwhp and 765rwtq all while staying on 93 pump gas and a 100% stock fuel system. We saw no pressure drop on either the low or high side with this power level, however both we and the customer understood that the combination would be methanol-dependent and that we were pushing the edge of what this setup was capable of before we needed to start upgrading fuel systems and going to ethanol based fuel or race gas.
