Default 5.3L heads on LT1 creating more velocity?

From what I'm seeing the LT1 stock heads flow REALLY well, and ported ones flow even better.

However it would seem to hypothesize that with all that airflow you'd lose some velocity which is also pretty important to power. Another thing that comes to mind is the fact that on LSx heads you have fuel taking up space entering the head but in the gen 5 engines it's directly injected into the cylinder and hence more airspace is freed up in the chamber.

I'm wondering if porting a 5.3L head (and perhaps valve size would matter here - it likely would) would make for more velocity over the stock LT1/ported LT1 heads and perhaps create more power under the curve with similar peak power as an LT1 head would - Obviously a proper cam would be needed to spec with this setup as well.

Thoughts?
