Gen 5 pistons (5.3)

Ok, I have been looking for some time now and Cannot find the answers I am looking for. If I missed a thread please let me know.

I have a new gen3 block and I am wanting to put the gen5 flat top pistons (w/reliefs) installed on Scat I-beam rods(icr6100-927). I am building a high compression 5.3 and i was told the cam might cause PTV issues. The questions I have.....

--- will the gen5 fit correctly in the gen3 block, I have not seen any builds for it, or any info on the pistons at all.

--- do the valves reliefs allow for more PTV clearance on a 862 heads.(I don't want to assume).

Plan for the build

Gen3 5.3 block
Gen5 5.3 piston
Scat I-beam rod
862 heads (61cc)
Stock head gasket
10.5:1 compression
Carbed
Cam motion "little chopper" cam

If the clearance is there I would go to a Cometic .040 gasket and have the heads milled to 59cc, for 11.0:1 maybe a bit higher.

Thank you, I have been snooping in the shadows for some time and thanks for the forum it is full of useful info.

Gen5 5.3 pistons arent flat tops.

Maybe you mean gen4? Your scat rods wont work with any ls piston. The pin is too small. They are all a .945 not .927.

Gen4 5.3 floating pin pistons will work just fine but not with those rods. Youd need a scat 26100944P for them or a 66100945 h beam.

#19208675 (2010-14 Hummer) only descriptions I could find is flat top with reliefs.

Is this considered a gen 4 ?

Also the part number you have (26100944p) comes up as press fit. Atleast on Summit Racing. I will try to call scat today.

That is gen4 vvt you have a picture of.

The P at the end stands for Pressed. No one makes a stock length I beam floating rod in a 944/5 pin.

Thank you for the knowledge.
