L86 DOD cam that doesn't need retune Hi, I have a 2016 Yukon with an L86 and a ticking lifter. I have already turned DOD off with HP Tuners. This is the wife's car, not a hot rod. I will now do the mechanical delete (cam, lifters, guides etc and freshen the heads) but I don't want to get into "tuning". I see 2 cams that might do this and I am looking for someone else that has done this delete. If you have experience with either of these cams could you please let me know if you needed to "tune" or not. thanks in advance Ray https://sdparts.com/i-24136024-genui...t-non-afm.html https://sdparts.com/i-24504579-sdpc-...-camshaft.html To me these cams are very similar but even Scoggin Dickey can not tell me if tuning is needed or not. |
The L86 AFM delete cam is made to the same specs as the factory L86 camshaft. Aside from disabling the AFM in the ECU, it does not require a tune. We by default always tell customers a tune is required because AFM has to be disabled. If you already have AFM disabled properly in the tune, further tuning should not be required. I'm sorry for any miscommunication. |
Thanks SD. I listed 2 SD cams above. Could I use either without "retuning"? Can you confirm that others have used your L86 DOD delete cam without "retuning"? Ray Webster NY |
Here is a summary of the L86 DOD cams I found. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...58b254e50e.jpg |

Ray Webster NY Since we have a dedicated camshaft for the purpose of removing AFM from the L86, we have never used the LT5 camshaft for this purpose. |
