Default Commodore SS = Next Impala SS?

Motor Trend has a tiny mention of the Commodore SS coming over in the form of an Impala SS in the April '02 issue, any truth behind this? Is this old news?

Does that mean Bob Lutz is going to invest in new manufacturing plant as the present is running at capacity.
