Who goes to LS Fest strictly as a Spectator?
Just as the title says, who has gone to Holley's LS Fest as spectator? Did you have a good time, or did you feel left out of all the activities?
All the information out there seems to lean towards participating in the competitive nature of the event. I have plenty of LS Cars, but none that I would consider worthy of entering into any of the driving competitions. (This will change once I get my 99 back together, but it won't be completed until well after September of this year.)
As well, my F-body cars are pretty nice, but I don't see them as much competition for the Show-n-Shine either. That leaves the Cruise as the lone event to participate in.
My brother and I are heavily considering attending the 2013 Event, but are wondering if its worth the 9 hour drive and $200-$300 we'll spend on fuel, food, and lodging to sit in the stands and watch the action rather than participate.
So whether you've competed or have simply spectated, chime in with your thoughts on the attending LS Fest as a spectator.

I had an absolute BLAST. I drove 9 hours round trip and plan on doing it again next year. The drag racing, autocross, and drift is a lot of fun to watch, and also to see all the cars in the show. Really a great event.

I have spectated the past two years.. Buddy took his SS last year so I helped a lot with that. The first year was strictly spectating.
I had a BLAST! You get to "take in" more cause you aren't sitting in staging lanes/worrying about checking in/etc...
However... If you have a car to take, take it! It is awesome getting to just ride around town and pass a modded fbody every 10 cars! It is heaven, or as close as you can get I think. HA
Not every single car there is mint and 600+Rwhp.. There are normal bolt on cars and 150K+ daily driver cars that compete in events.
Well worth it! You are missing out if you don't at minimum come.. Well worth 2-300$.

Awesome! These are the EXACT answers I was hoping to see. We'll be rolling down for sure! Thanks very much, gentlemen.
We'll most likely be in my 2000 WS6 Formula, but if by some miracle I can talk my brother into bringing his 02 35th Anniversary SS that would be killer. Its Odometer currently sits at 5k. A nice trip like this would be a worthy cause to rack a few more miles on it and knock the cobs out of it.

I went the first 2 years when I was stationed at FT. Campbell, KY. I had a pretty good time too. Lot's of events and cool cars. There were a lot of cars that weren't show cars either. Being close to Nashville the guys from PowerblockTV usually make an appearance. The Corvette museum is just a few miles from Beach Bend too. If you go the same way I did, you'll pass the Holley factory too. If I make it back I'm taking my car.

LS Fest has the absolute best turnout of LS powered race cars, swap cars, show cars, and anything cars.
Plus this year we are working on adding an unlimited heads up class, some have called it the Pro Class, which will have big tire, alchohol burning LS cars running in the 1/8th.
And Holley is adding a big LS swap meet [now you have to go].
See you there!!!!!

I have been every year and will keep trying to make sure that me and my group keep going. It's looking like this will be the only year we don't get to bring a car. Oh well, maybe next year.

The Unlimited class should be very exciting, a number of very fast guys said they will race and we'd see some side by side 4.20-4.50 action.
Can you imaging seeing this
race this?

I'd love to roll down with a group of cars. I'm trying to get a friend to come along with his 98 Z28, but I don't think he's gonna be able to make time for it.
My brother and I are planning to leave Thursday Sept. 5th. GoogleMaps says its a 9 hour drive, so I would imagine we'll head out somewhere around 9 am. The shortest route doesn't take us thru the Quad Cities, but if anyone would like to meet up with us somewhere near the route we are taking we'd be happy to make a short detour. Post up or shoot me a PM if you're interested.
