Dragweek adventures 2012, 2014 and 2016 Hey guys.
Thought I would spend a little time writing a thread about my past and future dragweek week adventures. A true test of man and machine, Dragweek is not for the timid. Dragweek is a event where street/strip cars are driven 1,000-plus miles on public roads during a trip that includes four dragstrips and five races in five days.
My friends and I have made Hotrods Dragweek a tradition every even year starting in 2012. I have made the quick 32 every time I have entered, with a second place finish(Street machine eliminator aka daily driver) in 2016. I lost to David Burke by .007 seconds in the finals.
I plan a return trip (in 2018) in a friend of mines car (met him on 2014 dragweek) Carl Werner. Carl passed away this last winter, losing a hard fought battle with lung cancer. We will race his car in his honor, gunning for a return to the quick 32 and a shot at winning the bracket race competition.
A little about the car..
1977 Pontiac Ventura

Strange 9" rearend
Willwood brakes
150-200 nitrous shot
Hoping for a race weight of 3400ish with driver
Hoping for 10.50s in the 1/4
Picture posted below. She ain't fancy/easy on the eyes LOL.
Car is unfinished currently. I hope to be finished with the build late this winter with test hits beginning in the spring of 2018. We are following the build formula of my 1998 Firebird(10.80s in the 1/4).

My squad and I plan on making the trip to Cordova IL for the finals of 2017 Dragweek. Drink some beers and chill in the stands and enjoy some sick cars hanging it all on the line. I will post up some pics and highlights of that adventure here shortly!

Pictured is Carl and I(I'm the ugly guy to the left)at SRCA dragstrip in Great Bend KS during dragweek 2014. A couple of pictures of his 1994 Chevy Caprice that he drove on Dragweek. The car pics were taken this winter at Carl's shop. Almost looks like the car was parked after 2014 Dragweek and not used.
