Prices for ls1 f-bodies vary greatly. You can get one with high miles for as little as $2000, or get a low mileage car for upwards of $20,000. I just purchased a '99 SS with 48k miles for $9,800.

A 6 speed is not too much for the street, and an unstalled auto is not too weak for the track.

The 10 bolt is just fine unless you start really making some power.
