Not new but im back, well almost!
I have not attempted to log on in several years, maybe close to 5. My old login was stangbeaterZ28. The forum doesn't recognize the user name or my email...
Anyways, I guess I have to post up 50 times to view classifieds. Pulling my 98Z out of the barn for a new build.
My name is Bill, I'm from the St. Louis area (Eureka, mo). Welder/fabricator by trade but now work for Ceekay Supply as a sales rep/weld specialist
I have a black 1998 Z28...
Midwest Chassis 9"
Strange suspension
Midwest Chassis tubular front end with Strange coilovers and adjustable a-arms
custom cage/chassis mods
I used to run junkyard Ls1's with a 243's and an MS3 cam.... through a 6 speed usually made between 410-415 horse on our dyno, drove the car to the track and ran very low 11's around 1.5's 60' and trapped 120-125mph depending on tire size. I started playing around with a little cheater ZEX kit and couldn't keep rod bearings together. go figure. Car is being resurrected with more chassis mods as we speak. 6 speed is gone, going with a TH400 on a brake or Glide if I can get away with it (should be about 3000# race weight). I have a factory LQ4 to start with and several factory heads to start with. My question is: Has anyone used a set of HX35 turbo's (off the cummins 12-24v) to run up near 1000rwhp. They seem very stout and easy spooling. Goal is to build a 850-900rwhp, pump-gas,"street car", 10.5" tire, 9 second car running the Holley Dominator EFI system. I trailer to the track but do drive the car on the street a bit, if you know what I mean. Thoughts or opinions of those who have tried a similar set-up are appreciated!
Thanks, glad to be back to building my car again!
