Default Trying to Transition from SBC to LSx

Hey everyone, first off I'd like to say hello. I'm Zach and I'm currently on car/project #14, which is my 1991 Chevrolet C1500 with a tired old 350/700r4 setup. I've owned quite a few interesting and fun vehicles in my time, such as my 2001 Ford Mustang Bullitt (#3461), 2002 Subaru WRX, 1985 GMC C10 with a 454 crate engine swap and a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST. I've been a fan of old school small block and big block Chevy engines all of my life. Their simplicity and lack of electronics appealed to me. I love a simple old school carb'd 350 setup, but times are changing and I suppose "the future is now, old man." so everyone is pointing me in the direction of LS swapping my newest toy for both power and price reasons. I'll make a more dedicated post asking for general advice and pointers on it, but I wanted to swing by and say hello to my new forum home.

Nice to meet everyone!

Glad to see you are getting with the times. It just hard to beat the performance and reliability of LS engines for the price when comparing them to SBC engines.

The SBC is an outstanding engine Think of the LS engines as a newer and better version of that classic

As for carbs I just spent 3 minutes waiting for my carb'd 72 vette's Dart 400 to warm up enough to back out of the garage. Every time I drive the vette really wish it had a fuel injected LS

Your truck sounds like a fantastic fun probably, best wishes with the project. The 91 C1500 is like the perfect size truck to daily drive and hot rod in my opinion.

Nice to meet everyone!

I'm 47 and I made this leap in 2007 with my first LS based project. Fast forward 11 years and now were neck deep in this stuff. LS engines just get it done. The fact that you don't need a caulking gun full of Permatex alone is reason enough to celebrate.

Current build for me: 421cid LSX/LS7 "ish" 2.9L Whippled piece for my 2004 GTO. I designed/programmed/machined the entire blower drive from scratch at my business. My 7 month long winter project. . .

Fun stuff. I'm a newb here too so welcome!
