Tryin to run 12's Hey guys im pretty new here, i live in memphis, tennessee my names Cory and im 20 years old. I have a 2001 camaro ss convertible m6 i just got it a month ago, but just bout a true dual exhaust system off this site. soo im going to school and workin part time. This car is my ever day driver but im tryin to break into the 12's. I just ordered an X pipe im gonna cut off the cats and run the the X pipe straight off the stock manifold until i get my lt's and the x pipes go to 2 dynomax bullit mufflers and they dump right after the axles. After the true duals and lt's im goin to get an asp pulley, an slp lid, and i already got a k&n filter, after that im goin to get it tuned at dynoed at a local shop, what else besides torque arm, sfc's, and drag radials should i do to break into 12's???? thanks for all the help guys and i love this site |
Gears, a higher stall and a suspention upgrade is usually what everyone aims for next after your mods. Thats what I'm saving up for myself. Those alone can knock a good second to a second and a half off your current times. |
i wonder how you stall a m6???? |
ws6 rampage what r u runnin right now? |
with the gas pedal and clutch...silly a4 guys... |

You should be able to hit 12's with just a tune on an 01/02 car. A vert may need some help. Headers will definitly get you there. |
Yeah full exhaust and a lid and any kind of traction should get u there. Nice car by the way. |

If a tune is in need then i will get it ASAP... BTW i just got my first Credit card in the mail :hail: |

I'm not at all saying you can't drive, I don't know your elevation or anything, but I know guys personally who have driven stock LS1's into the 12's. No not sarcastic i just was surprised of the difference. :D But ya im at -60 sea level. And i spin mostly through 1st. I have never raced a RWD so i need to get down with launching. It was my first night drag racin in the car. This is also in a A4. |

so at -60 should i be gettin less then 13.5 as a average driver? I know i may not hit a pro's numbers but i would atleast like to be part of the average  |
Haha. Yeah...you being right there at sea level you should be running some very good times in your car. Just get some more time in behind the wheel. And if your time doesn't start improving quite a bit with more practice, you could be losing power somewhere. Could be losing timing, or you could have had bad gas. Maybe your air/fuel is way off. You are at least running 91 octane right? But I think your gonna find you just needed more driving time. Nothing to be ashamed off. Not everyone can go and run great times their first time out. |
Lid/Cutout/ nittos.. |
well thats the thing. I was running 87 for a lil bit cuz i thought it could use it and be fine... the night that i ran i had a mix of 91/87 more 91 then 87 but the mix could result in less then 91.. i have been running 91 tho i think i might go this tuesday also see if anything happens. |
Oh man yeah...you definately want to be running at least 91, and 93 is even better. You were definately losing power running on 87. |
i have never run from a sit still in a manual soo how would i go abouts my launch (keep in mind this is my first manual car) anyway should i just rev it up to about 4 grand and dump the clutch, once i get off the line i can hit every gear though?!?!?!?!? |
