Default New thermostat question

Hey, i just bought the hypertech 180 degree thermostat. The problem is, im not sure how to adjust the e-fans to turn on sooner at a colder temp since now i have a lower degree thermostat.

The stock t-stat for the imp ss i believe is a 187, and the Diablo predator settings allow you to adjust temps beginning with 192 and up.

Anyone know how to make the fans turn on....lets say @ 180 or 185?? Any settings in the tuner that i can fool around with??

Thanks.

I'll post the same answer here that I did to your post on diablosport's forums...

-----------------------------------------

to be honest with ya man... that 180* t-stat is useless...

our stockers, like you said, are 187*...

and you can adjust the fans to come on more, and sooner, but not any lower than 192*...

not only that, but our engines like to be a little warmer anyway... they're not old-school iron blocks, like everyone with the older cars putting in 160, 170, 180 t-stats to make 'em run cooler/better...

our aluminum blocks like to be a little warmer/hotter than 180* to get the best performance out of them... you'll be able to make more power in our cars at 195*/200* than you can at 170/180...

which is why the default fan settings don't kick on til 196*, and even then it's only at 25% IIRC... up in the 200's, the fans are only at like 45%, heh...

but in answer to your question, no - you can't turn the fans on any sooner than the 192... not even with CMR.... 192/196 is the lowest temp that is available in the GM tune itself... yet another reason why a 180* t-stat is useless...

I don't get why people keep insisting on doing this for our cars.... it's pointless and doesn't really gain you anything....
