Ok so i was at the exhaust shop about a month ago getting my new mufflers put on and the mechanic took keys and got to work on my baby. When it was all said and done he pulled it out and was talking to me about the car. He asked me what year is it again and i told him 06. Then he said this car has some big a$$ balls for it to be a v6 i told him its a V8 small block. He said "Holy shit no way!!! This thing must be fast as hell then" I said yeah then i popped the hood and showed him. The look on his face was priceless. i wish i would of had my phone ready because it was too funny to pass up. Do people really think these LS4 cars are junk or something? I felt disrespected in a way but then again i guess its a good.

I really dont think people think they're junk, it's just as you said; it's their ignorance of the car/platform itself. Our cars were only offered as V6's for how many years prior to the LS4 being introduced, so most people just take for granted that it's a sixer even if it is the top of line model. I actually get quite a few compliments on my car (when it's clean, lol) but I still have to tell them it's a V8, so I dont think most people think they're junk.

it's because the body styling is like the 2000-2005's, and those were all v6's...

I've gotten the same thing... "do you have the supercharger on that v6??!!"

Yeah, a lot of people don't know it has a V8. I personally like it. I'd rather people not know what I have going on under the hood. They hear the exhaust and just look surprised. It's cool.

its easier for me to hussle punk kids in mustangs when i tell them its a 6 HAHA

Perfect sleepers. This is what drew me to these cars in the first place, the look on people's face when find out what's really under the hood. Last time someone from the dealership had to test drive my car he hands me the keys afterwards still grinning. I just hope he didn't beat it too bad because that's my job.

yeah he was surprised. more excited than anything. we talked for about an hour about it. i can't front, i love the attention. especially when people hear the exhaust. no lie, yesterday one of my co workers (a female) drove my car because i had the company car and she was like "when i turned the car on it sounded like a damn race car. did you get a new engine or something because i dont remember it sounding like that when you got it" all i could say with a smile on my face, "its a secret" with a little wink lol

I had a lady from work tell me that when I remote started my car the other day she was right behind it and it scared the shit out of her. My car must have an exhaust leak because it keeps getting louder and louder. At first I liked it but now the sound is starting to change a bit and not in a good way. I might have to bring it in and have someone look at it. How loud is yours with the res del and the 40's? If I need any exhaust work done I might as well go that route or similar.

Mine is definitely loud. I heard it from the outside and it sounds like one of those Pickup Trucks that you can tell has flowmasters on them. When i was leaving the gym last week this guy turned his head with the quickness when i was backing up. He kept looking in my direction until i turned so it most def. turns heads. It sounds really really loud on a cold start up which i wish could sound like that even on a warm start ;)

Mine doesn't fool anyone. With no mufflers, mine sounds more like a '63 Impala with chambered mufflers more than anything else!

i would love to have mine sound like that. but isnt it illegal to have no mufflers?

There's no law (In California) that says you must have mufflers. There are laws about how much noise your car can make. I imagine mine is probably borderline in terms of being legal, but we've never been pulled over for it, and it's been about 9 months since we had them taken off.

how much does it normally cost to have them removed? how is the gas economy since they are off?

It wont change fuel economy.

I paid $50 to get mine removed, but retained the stock tailpipes.

Mileage is unchanged.

how long have you had that exhaust set up?.. As you put more miles on a new exhaust system it will get louder as it breaks in.. Shouldn't be that much louder but you will notice it.
