Default Am I crazy to buy a 2007 GXP with 16K miles

Hi all,

I am very close to buying a one owner, never seen rain, Grand Prix GXP. Car has 16K miles and is local to me. I can buy the car for $16,500. The owner also has an extended warranty thru GMPP that I can buy for an extra $1500.

My concern in buying the car is I do alot of driving for work (Outside Sales). Gas mileage is not an issue since my gas is covered by work. My concern is reliability as it seems many have issues with transmissions.

Overall, are you owners happy with your GXP's or other makes with the same drivetrain?

All replies are greatly appreciated as I need to let the seller know by Sunday.

Thanks!

Why would you be crazy?
I know there is a fairly good chance you'll need transmission work, but I accepted that when I bought it, but I also haven't had any signs of trouble yet.
I'd try to pay 15,500 for it.

I'd get it if I were in your shoes. These cars are great DD's, and as with any make - has its issues. I'm with Cully, try to lower the price, and get the extended warranty.

The seller is 100% firm on the price. Even though Edmunds books the car at $15,750 they want $16,750 due to what they have in the car. The warranty would have to be paid by me as well. If I don't accept their price then they'll keep in the garage until a buyer pays their price.

Cully, where are you located? I'm in Schaumburg right by Woodfield. The GXP is in Naperville.

The longer it stays in their garage, the less its worth. Unfortunately a lot of people think what they have have is worth more then it really is. A GXP is not going to increase in value with time at this point. It is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, not any more. If they put $5000 into it and no one cares, then its not worth $5000 more, except to them. So question is.... how much is it worth to you?

Downtown AH!

We got a w-body meet coming up on the 22nd in wheaton (bbq and chill), and then there's thechicagogarage's thursdays at lukes in carpentersville.

I'll post the wbody meet info over here... it's a good group, we also meet at fuddruckers every month or so in downers grove. Be sure to stop by whether you buy the gxp or not!

18,000 is a little steep in price with the warranty, I'd say 16.5 with the warranty is a more than fair price. If they won't come off the price, you can always find another.

18 months ago I only paid $16,200 for my 08 GXP with 9,200 miles on it in perfect condition . That dealer had 3 on them for the same price & ~mileage. My coworker bought one of them a couple of weeks later.

GXP's are awesome DD but you shouldn't have to pay more than $16,500 with the warranty.

Tell them to call you back when they want to sell a car.

I bought mine for 15.5 18 months ago with 28K
