I don't think it would be too bad. I mean sure you would have to take the crank out and have the snout cut down to ls4 size and also the flex plate end cut, but other than that just mill the trans case a bit and the block a bit to make up for the adapter plate. If you could get a good deal on a motor I'd be willing to bet it could be done for less than a CR turbo kit.

FastFieros normally does good work, when he does work.... but there are way too many examples of him taking people's hard earned $$$ and giving them absolutly nothing for it.
Here is one of his current supporters who spent 11.5K in 2005 and all he has to show for it is weeds growing up around his fiero (5 years later)...

There are several other threads over there about people waiting up to 2 years for an engine swap harness that they paid up front for... so Buyer Beware.
With an adapter plate you can hook almost any LS(x) engine to the 4T65e-hd. You can retain the LS4 accessory drive once you shorten the snout. Here is a fun thread on a LS427/4T65e-hd (the LS4 one):

There is an Impala SS (not sure of the year, but it is an 06+) that is for sale by me, and it has an LS1 sticker on the trunk. IDK if he actually did the swap or if he is an idiot . If I think about it I'll take a picture of it sometime this week.
