Default LS4 questions

I know that our most LS4's have a digital information center telling us alot of info... one function is for our oil expiration.

My question to all who want to respond to this is "what type of oil do you all use, how long in between each oil change, and what octane & brand of gas while filling up"?

I for one use Mobil 1 with a Delco filter, change her blood 5K-6K, and try to use at least 91 octane from Noco or 93 from Sunoco.

The mileage between each oil change is always an interesting read filled with all different opinions on why they feel the way that they do supported with various technical information.

OBTW, most of us use 91 or higher octane, and I change mine every 3000 or so. I don't even take a look at the oil life because if there is a problem with the read, and I wait until I get to 30%, then I'm screwed. So to be on the safe side I change it at 3k.

EDIT: I use 93 from Sunoco ALWAYS

I use Mobil 1....

and go 6000-7000 miles between changes... and my OLM is still at 36% - 40% at that point...

have just about 95,000 miles on my car... no engine issues whatsoever... and still on original tranny... strong as ever... changed the filter/fluid in the tranny at 50k, and will do it again at 100k...

and always use 93 octane Mobil gas...

We run the oil life monitor down to about 10%, which is about 6000 to 7000 miles, or about 6 weeks of driving. I do pull the dipsick every couple of weeks to check the level and color of the oil. Usually, even at 10% oil life, it's only about 1/2 a quart low and still relatively clean.

We use Mobil 1 5W-30, but are considering a change to Valvoline Synthetic.

For gas, we're limited to Shell, Arco, and Flying J due to living in a remote, secluded area. Shell sucks, as has been well-documented here. We usually switch between the other 2 depending on who's cheaper, but the car runs the same.

We ONLY use 91 octane, and the car has little to no KR, due to the awesome tune done by Lew. Before the tune, the car has 5-6 degrees of KR on any fuel.

I've heard that before, but that's what guys around here are tuned on and make great power with. Maybe it's a regional thing?

I just remember Lew tuning someone and asking him if he uses Shell because he had a lot of KR.

I remember that thread as well. I've heard both extremes from Shell gas. Who knows. I think I'm tuned on Chevron. lol
