Does anyone on this board still have their orignial trans? Just seeing who HASN'T had to replace their trans, we hear about all the horror stories, but there has to be some good ones. Post up your mileage also if you haven't replaced anything yet! And I'll start: 51,000 miles, so far so good! Just changed the fluid at 49,000, and got my tune and my surging and shuddering went away! 2006 "Bleen" GXP Sold: 2003 Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 (10.9 @ 133) -USAF "No One Comes Close" |
99877 miles, no problems at all. |
I still have the "original" trans, though it was rebuilt by the dealer in April. |
2007 Monte SS, 67,000+ never any transmission problems |
2006 Monte SS, 37,000 and still good here! |
102,000 kms and only added a shift kit, no cooler and it hasn't had an easy life but when i shift from park to drive or to reverse i give the car an extra second to engage, i don't have to but do it casue anyways. The trans is going to be built soon but thats not cause its going out. |
116,000 km and still on the original. Added a shift kit 5000 km ago, no cooler..... Must be the Canadian weather. I'll be looking at a TEP tranny next year just cause I want to add a couple more power adders. |
my dad has his 2007 monte ss with 927 miles on it in storage with his 84 monte ss with 42,000 miles on it. Both are completely original and no problems. Of course why would you have any with 927 miles! lol. |

Basically, the 4T65-E is a pile of shit. Even my Mom's 205 HP 3800 V6 has apparently destroyed one. Oh well...At least she has a warranty. |
73k and still no issues (knocks on wood) |
65000 Kilometers and no issues. Did put a shift kit and fluid/filter change this year. No issues as of yet but have Dave from TEP on saved to my favorite's when it does. |
101,000 km, still on the original stock transmission. |
28K miles, original tranny, no issues thus far. I did a trans go shift kit, huge tranny cooler, and filter change @ 25K. I put in a drain plug on the tranny pan for ease of service. I plan on doing the fluid / filter change every 24K or 25K miles. |
I still have the trans install with no problem |
'05 GXP, 42,xxx miles, just recently started modding the car. We'll have to see how it likes the mods (FWI, DT Headers, Tune). I have a feeling mine will give before too long, I guess I'll just have to upgrade to some 3.29's and a TEP rebuild :) |
lucky sobs  |
Traded my 08 GXP last month and the trans started to feel funny. (57,000 kms) |
Mine is original @ 51k. I don't think it's gonna be much longer though, under load I can hear it straining. Kinda like a low howling noise @ low speeds. |

That sucks, Dom, but those symptoms are the same old story.
