Default Brake job - now sqeaul

Last weekend I changed my front rotors with Raybestos and front pads with Wagner Thermoquiets (the rear rotors and pads are still good) and everything was wonderful, stopped great and no noises. As of four days ago I developed a very constant sqeual when about 1/3 pressure is applied to the pedal. The sqeaul can be reproduced on demand and it seems to be coming from the front left side.

Any thoughts on what the hell is causing this? It is extremely annoying. Thanks

Could be a couple of things but every brake rotor is treated with a anti rust coating from factory. I know some shops remove it but when I first got mine installed the brakes squeled a bit here and there including smoked once and then stopped doing both all togeather.

I hope you remembered to spray the rotors down with brake cleaner beforehand.

Also semi-metallics aren't the quietest things somtimes

Did you use "Disk Brake Quiet" on the backs of the pads? This is a liquid coating the goes on the metal backing. It comes in a plastic bottle or spray, and is generally red in color. Put a generous amount on the metal backing (NOT the friction face), let it dry awhile, then assemble.

I definately cleaned the rotors first, but did not use disk brake quiet. I might have to give that a try. Driving in stop and go traffic hearing a break sqeaul every few seconds is extremely annoying, and embarassing!

I'd stick with the ACDelco ceramics.

Give this a shot.. take your car down to the car wash..... Now make sure you dont get your brakes to hot before you do this or you could warp your rotors. Spray the crap out of your rotors. Your trying to power wash the cross drilled holes.. Getting out all of the brake pad matter that builds up in there.

I found this out the hard way too. Because the last brake job i used semi metallics

Seems as you use your brakes the dust builds up in the holes and you get a few pieces of the metal sticking out, and cause squealing on my car.. i have to do this every so often, when ever the noise comes back.

Thank you for the idea. I will give that a try and if it doesn't help I might be switching pads.

A few things to check:
-Disc brake quiet is okay for the backs of the pads, but I find that synthetic grease works better. I apply mine to the actual caliper piston and opposite cailper contacts; not the back of the pad.
-Also apply grease to the brake pad clips where they make contact with the calpier mounting bracket AND the small notches where the pads rest on the clips. Be careful not to get grease on the pad surface or rotor braking surface.
This method works for me everytime. If this or the suggestions above do not resolve your issue, switch to ceramic pads.
