Default MS3 V2 Cam in LS4.....?

So, its nearly 1:30am....and I stumble across the old MS3 cam in my basement that used to be in my Camaro....and started thinking how it would fair in the LS4. Its definitely a more aggressive cam, even in LS1 standards....but lets discuss the idea of it powering the LS4, lol.
Nevermind the fact that the trans would need to be build to withstand the added power, lets just talk engine for now.
I know the first thought is 'sufficient supporting mods'.... so lets say the LS4 has a good CAI, LS6 intake mani, headers, full exhaust, a built trans, and proper valvetrain/tune to run the cam. You can even throw in some massaged heads. Hell, even if the car was nearly stock, I'm sure it'd still make decent power.

So lets discuss! Full supporting mods scenario...and mildly modded scenario. Even stock scenario!

Stock: Don't bother. You'd need at least a tune to make it run at all, but it would still run shitty in a choked-off automatic car.

Mild Bolt-On Car: Don't bother. See above, though it would run a little better with improved intake and exhaust.

Heads/LS6 intake/"All out car": It would be a strong LS4, but would be marginally streetable, as that cam is HUGE for a 5.3. Power would be upstairs and you'd need to get a stall converter and gears for the trans. IMHO, this would not be a fun car to drive on the street.

My advice would be to sell the MS3, decide on what you expect in a build, then call Patrick G and have him spec out a cam for you.

LS1 Racing is right. That cam would be huge for the ls4 motor. I know a lot of guys use the same cam that's in a G8 GT I believe.

Yup...And that cam works well in a 6.0, especially one with L76/L92/LS3 heads. A near stock LS4 with 243s...Not so much.

Oh, don't worry... I wasn't actually planning on it. I just wanted to see what the general thoughts on it were. One of those late night beer induced ideas
Although, if people had good arguements and thoughts behind it, then maybe I'd consider being a guinea pig, lol. It wasn't very fun to drive with when it was in the Camaro. And that was with worked heads, full exhaust, hours of tuning,....the works.... lol
Ahh well....

I could not imagine driving a cam that big in an A4 car, simply because it needs a lot of stall, and I hate driving around town with a loose converter.

If I went for a big cam in my Camaro, I'd go with a Polluter, since it offers decent torque.

The only way I could see using that cam in a 5.3 is in full race trim. I don't think there would be anything streetable about it, and you'd need to push your engine to 8000 RPM+
