Cold air first, I did a muffler swap for now and will do all the pipes later when I get a tuner. THe big restiction from what I understand is the downpipe off the manafold but when you change that there is a good chance you'll throw a code.

The magnaflow is nice and mellow. You can find it for about $500 and install it yourself for free. Get the K&N (about $220 multiple places). I have both and love them. Re tuning, you cannot use Diablo if you wanted to...they can't crack the TCM in the 2006, nor can they do either the ECM or TCM in the 2007+. If you aren't willing to try tuning yourself with HPtuners, check out your local speed shop for custom tuning, or buy a canned tune from Vector Motorsports...(put it together with a www and dotcom)...they have a great E/tcm tune.

Vid doesnt do it justice, I constantly get compliments on the sound. The thrush welded are 40 series flowmaster design but for 30 buck a muffler. I took it to a shop and paid another 150 to have them installed with the original tips.

I know videos can only do so much, but to give you an idea of the in-cabin WOT sound of the MF kit, check out the following vid. It was intended to give an idea of the 8000k HIDs that i had installed at the time (I have 4300k now), but there is a nice WOT burst about 40s in. This was one month after the MF system got installed. It has since gotten deeper, though, but not much deeper. This is also with the K&N Installed as well.

The second vid is shortly after the MF was installed...but it doesn't provide much sound.

My Down Pipe tossed a code twice.....I changed the cat to system gasket from the one that Hogan gave to a GM one.. Honestly I haven't seen the code since....sounds alittle strange I know, but I think the problem might be the gasket...If the car doesn't ever complain about it again then I guess all is well.

Here's my setup
3in catted dp, no resonator, Stock pipes, and Hooker Aero Chambers.

Its not loud on the inside with all the sound abatement and warm idle is low key, but once you get moving no doubt you'll hear it...Try not to listen to these clips, or anyones clips with low quality speakers or you'l never hear the full sound. Hehe don't mind the heavy breathing, my cheapo camera is overly sensative.

Welcome

Hey, guys. This is relevant to me, also.. I just purchased a used 2007 Monte Carlo SS, and I'm glad I started in the right place (Bought the CAI, installing tomorrow), but here's my next question.. Does anyone besides Magnaflow make exhaust kits for this car? I haven't owned a newer chevy, so I don't really know of any online retailers for the 06-08 Impalas yet. Any help?

Nope that the only cat-back available at this time. Everyone else with an exhaust here just installed aftermarket muffler with or without custom piping.

no, a muffler replacement and ofr an additional 150.00 the shop would custom fab a full cat back for my car but reading that the restiction is in the down pipe I opted for a muffler replacement

Hm.. What shop did you go to? Hell, I don't think my local shops know enough to even begin to fab a custom cat-back..

My shop made my exhaust on my Grand Prix. Its not stainless but the steel is a pretty thick gauge. I have a good repore with my Exhaust shop he can pretty much do anything for me... I remember I had him doctor up som headers for me once, and I always have him make custom down pipes for me. He calls me Mr.Downpipe I tell him what I want and he gets it done for a fair price.... My all mandrel bent 2.5" down pipe and pipe work was about $250 give or take. My shop is a Meineke if that helps... Just go where you see hot rods

Midus muffler, and if you look at the exhaust its pretty simple to do with the right tools.

Welcome to the New guys.
There is a free mod for our cars. Just Flipping the motor mount helps with Launching the car, tourque steering and the car pulls a little harder.
Just do a search, there are a few good threads with pics. Very easy thing to do.
