Kenwood double din install

So I picked up a Kenwood model Dnx572BH and the install was actually very easy as these things go. This model has quite a lot of decent features such as the Garmin nav as well as DVD, Bluetooth and cell mirroring thru HDMI. It is back up camera capable also so I installed that as well. I am very impressed with the sound and the features of this model, and there is a 75.00 dollar rebate on it as well thru August for anyone contemplating purchasing one. I knew I would lose the date feature on the DIC, you also lose radio info on the HUD(bummer). Here is the parts list I used for anyone who is interested.

Kenwood DNX572BH
Pac interface RP5-GM11(for use with monsoon, retains onstar as well as steering wheel controls and chimes)
Monster MC 200R-4M 200 Series Composite Video (just thought this would be better than the one that comes with the camera, it was only 6 bucks thru amazon 13ft)
Esky High Definition Color Wide Viewing Angle
Monoprice Ultra Slim Series Passive MHL 3.0 Cable 6ft (for mirroring cell)
Kenwood KNA-RCDV331(for use with the DVD)
Metra 95-3527 Double DIN Install Dash Kit for 2004-08 Pontiac Grand Prix

So far I'm loving it. I grounded the parking brake cable for the dvd to use while in motion(doubt I will but I can if needed). Bluetooth works well, HD radio is a noticible improvement and GPS is fantastic. Happy with my purchase.

i have the factory navi setup and lemme tell you, the navigation and voice command is retarded lol i was on the way home last night and im like "cancel guidance" and its like "displaying map" and im like -_-. The maps have roads and turns that don't exist, and getting it to enter an address is retarded. Im hoping the updated disc helps some. lol

Wow that car came with nav or you put it in. That was an expensive option. I though about finding a factory set up that would work, but the new aftermarket units have too many newer features I was interested in so I passed.

came with it, why do you think i jumped all over it for 1000 bucks lol although its not as impressive as it probably seems. There is no USB or AUX input either.

You stole that car. You would have replaced some of those items anyway. Thats a deal for sure. Those factory nav fetch a good price, if you plan an upgrade in the future you should have no problem selling it.

Very nice; did it do anything with sound?
I was thinking of getting one of those and upgrading my speaker system at the same time (using output of radio for amp and then running speaker wires through the hardness via. adapter).

Thanks!

It sounds better, louder I think. The only speaker I have replaced so far is the single dash speaker and thats seems to be mostly voice. Speakers will be down the road, right now its an improvement and that is enough for me. Bluetooth and nav were the drive behind the purchase.

No kidding, there's a few Kenwood's for sale in my area; I'm staying away from Pioneer as I've ready some bad things about the reliability of their new nav HU's... that and how can you go wrong with Garmin?

rottonj 07-10-2015 08:01 AM

Garmin in my opinion is the best, although I dont see myself paying for any future updates but that is required with most nav systems included in head units. This model has every feature I was interested in, and I think I did well price wise.

I agree, that looks great. Did you change the gauge face overlay on your car, looks different then mine?

91parkave 07-10-2015 09:33 AM

Yea i had custom gauge faces made

That looks great. I added a custom pic to my head unit as well, but this Kenwood doesn't seem to have a blank screen so it can barely be seen. I have to look into it more, it may not be possible on this model. This is what I added.

Lol I got the same image too when i was on Google for gxp shit , came across the logo above and made some touches to it better go with everything

It was that or this one, I like them both.

This is the one I'm using on my HU. Fits the screen perfectly. I was originally looking for a GXP one but they were either too small or too bland for my taste.
