Starter Solution for Transmission Swaps *4T80e*F40*Non-LS 4T65e*
I wanted to share a quick update on where I am at with the starter solution for us LS4 guys.
As you probably already know...the 4t65e found in our LS4 cars is unique in the sense it has the starter provision cast into the bellhousing. The problem with this setup lies in the fact that every other 4t65e application (or any other GM fwd transaxle for that matter), has had the starter attached to the engine block. In an effort to broaden the transmission options for our community, I have been working on a modified oil pan which will relocate the starter under the motor.
This option will support:
-Non LS4 4T65e Transmissions (maybe you found a built unit from a 3800 car being parted, or maybe you simply are having trouble finding an LS4 specific replacement for your broken tranny)
-4T80e Conversions
-F40 6spd Conversions
Here is a generic photo during mock-up of the combination which utilizes a Powermaster LSx starter:
Here is a quick video of the starter all mounted up in action on a stock motor with the OE flexplate:
More details to come!

In all seriousness, a very small amount. Only removing a super small section of the pan. which gets plated right back in. If someone was super concerned...they could literally gain the overall system capacity back by adding a cooler.
