How are you guys transmissions holding up? And what combination do are u guys using

tep trans . when my 04 monte ss sc was running 107 i had it set to only get into first gear at under 30 to help save the trans and it worked. I did the homedepot shift kit and did a pan drop and filter change and beat the car a lot . I think the firts gear 1-2 shifts dont help

I know im not a ls4 but its the same trans .

If you need it rebuilt triple edge performance is the only place i would let touch my transmission .

F40 6 speed manual and 382 whp, everything still working as it should 20K miles post swap... but its in a 2800 lb Fiero too, so not much help with what you are looking for.

I was curious because I have lost 3rd gear again in n my car dave @ tep said its uncommon for these transmissions to lose 3rd by itself I go 1-2-4 dave said usually id lose 4th gear as well or only 4th gear not 3rd and this is the second time I lost 3rd only

I ran 350whp for half a year before getting my TEP. My transmission was still golden, just upgraded it for peace of mind.

Do you have the sonnax billet apply piston for 3rd? Seems like youve had this issue before, what exactly was it that failed? The clutches or the piston or what?

At the moment I have 7/8 chain, stage 1 tep rebuild kit, 300 input shaft, tranny cooler, stall convertor, shift kit. The first time my sprag got trashed which caused no 3rd gear, now im not sure unless this was a defective sprag that was installed. I bought the billet apply piston will be putting in when the tranny gets broken down again. Maybe it was just a bad sprag car runs fine just no 3rd

No matter what everything breaks eventually

stock trans still im sure im right over 300 wheel n/a just shift kit extra filtering and long time perfecting the trans tune to suit my driving style

Your transaxle has one foot in the grave and another on a banana peel. It's only a matter of time really.

Did you ever make any progress with yours with it running hot or are you holding out for the 6 speed?
